PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
TP-Link VIGI 8MP Outdoor Full-Color Bullet Network Camera, 2.8 mm Lens (VIGI C385) - 2 Years Local Warranty
The VIGI C385 records true 4K, 3840x2160, and keeps colour after dark using two white LEDs alongside two IR LEDs, both reaching 30 m. The metal body is IP67 rated for Singapore weather, 120 dB WDR handles a bright doorway against a dark interior, and the 2.8 mm lens gives a 111.4 degree horizontal view — the widest option on this model. Two-way audio and a microSD slot are built in.
8MP 4K Detail
Maximum resolution is 3840x2160 on a 1/2.7 inch progressive scan CMOS, with 2560x1440, 2304x1296, 2048x1280, 1920x1080 and 1280x720 also available. TP-Link publishes up to 25 fps on both 50 Hz and 60 Hz — there is no 30 fps mode on this model, unlike the 4MP C345. Main-stream encoding is H.265+, H.265, H.264+ or H.264 at 256 Kbps to 6 Mbps. Four times the pixel count of 1080p means a wide scene still yields a usable face crop.
Full-Colour Night Vision, Not Just Infrared
Two 850 nm IR LEDs give monochrome vision to 30 m, and two white LEDs give full-colour vision to the same distance. Illuminator behaviour is set to auto, scheduled, always on or always off, so the white light can be reserved for alarm events instead of running all night. Minimum illumination is 0.005 Lux, falling to 0 Lux with either illuminator active, and the white light can also flash as an alarm linkage.
2.8 mm Wide-Angle Coverage
The fixed 2.8 mm F1.6 lens gives a 111.4 degree horizontal, 58.8 degree vertical and 134 degree diagonal field of view — the wider of the two C385 lens options. DORI distances at 2.8 mm are detect 85 m, observe 35 m, recognise 17 m and identify 8 m. Choose this lens for forecourts, loading bays, car parks and shop floors where breadth of view matters; the 4 mm version narrows to 91.5 degrees and identifies to 11 m.
120 dB WDR, With a Published Trade-Off
Wide dynamic range is 120 dB, which is what lets the camera hold detail in a bright entrance against a dark interior. TP-Link publishes two frame-rate caveats worth knowing before you commission: if 120 dB is turned on, the frame rate only supports up to 20 fps, and the same 20 fps ceiling applies if image rotation is set to 90 or 270 degrees. Image enhancement covers BLC, 3D DNR, HLC and SmartIR, with SNR at 52 dB or better.
Smart Detection, Two-Way Audio and On-Board Recording
Smart events cover human and vehicle classification, intrusion, line crossing, region entering and exiting, object abandoned and removal, loitering, smart frame, people detection and vehicle detection. Basic events cover motion detection, video tampering, illegal login and scene change detection. Linkages are microSD recording, push message, audible warning and white-light flashing. A microSD card up to 256 GB records on board, and two-way audio works through the built-in microphone and speaker.
Ideal For
Singapore shophouses, warehouses, car parks, condominium perimeters and building entrances where 4K detail across a wide scene matters, and installers standardising on PoE with VIGI recorders or a third-party ONVIF system. Supplied by SourceIT with local Singapore warranty, GST invoice and project pricing on request.

Published Footnotes
TP-Link publishes the following caveats for this model: tile encoding is automatically enabled in H.265 mode when the horizontal resolution exceeds 2688, and if a third-party NVR does not support tile encoding it cannot enable H.265 mode, so TP-Link recommends using a VIGI NVR with VIGI cameras for optimal performance; the SD card is not included in the package; and calculations are based on laboratory testing using a 3MP VIGI camera, with actual performance varying according to the amount of activity recorded, resolution and other variables.
TP-Link does not publish a gross weight for this model, nor abnormal sound detection, so neither is quoted here.
Compatibility & Software Support
| VIGI Network Video Recorders | Full support — recommended pairing, and TP-Link specifically recommends a VIGI NVR because of the tile-encoding requirement at 4K |
| Third-Party NVRs and VMS | Supported via ONVIF Profile S. Note that a third-party NVR without tile-encoding support cannot enable H.265 mode above 2688 horizontal pixels |
| Power | 802.3af/at PoE from a VIGI PoE recorder or any PoE switch, or a 12 V DC adapter |
| VIGI App | Supported on Android and iOS |
| VIGI Security Manager / VIGI VMS | Both supported |
| Standalone Use | Supported — records to a microSD card up to 256 GB with no recorder present |
| Licensing | No per-camera or per-channel licence fee |
| Omada SDN Controller | Not applicable — VIGI is TP-Link's surveillance line and is managed through VIGI tools, not an Omada controller |

Frequently Asked Questions — VIGI C385 (2.8 mm)
Which lens should I choose?
2.8 mm gives the wider view, 111.4 degrees horizontal, and identifies a face to about 8 m. The 4 mm narrows to 91.5 degrees and identifies to 11 m. Pick by the distance at which you need to tell people apart, not by the area you want in frame. Only these two lenses are published for the C385.
Do I need a VIGI recorder for 4K?
Not strictly, but TP-Link recommends one. Above 2688 horizontal pixels the camera automatically enables tile encoding in H.265 mode, and a third-party NVR that does not support tile encoding cannot use H.265 at all. If you are pairing this with a non-VIGI recorder, confirm tile-encoding support first.
Can I record 4K at 25 fps with 120 dB WDR on?
No. TP-Link publishes a 20 fps ceiling whenever 120 dB is turned on, and the same ceiling applies if you rotate the image 90 or 270 degrees. Plan for 25 fps without WDR or 20 fps with it.
Can it run without an NVR?
Yes. A microSD card of up to 256 GB records on the camera and the VIGI app gives live view and playback. The card is not supplied.
What warranty does SourceIT provide?
Two years local Singapore warranty, the tier TP-Link publishes for its outdoor camera series, with a GST invoice on every order.
