TP-Link VIGI 16 Channel PoE+ Network Video Recorder (VIGI NVR2016H-16MP) - 5 Years Local Warranty
The VIGI NVR2016H-16MP is the flagship of TP-Link's mainstream VIGI recorder range: sixteen PoE+ ports on a 140 W budget, 320 Mbps of incoming bandwidth, a Gigabit uplink, two 16 TB drive bays plus eSATA, and six alarm inputs with four outputs for integration with other building systems.
Sixteen PoE+ Ports and 140 W
Ports 1 to 16 are RJ-45 10/100 Mbps self-adaptive interfaces compliant with 802.3at/af, with 140 W available across all PoE+ ports and 30 W maximum per port. One box therefore powers, switches, records and analyses an entire sixteen-camera site — no separate PoE switch, no injectors, one power feed to protect on a UPS.
320 Mbps In and Out, Gigabit Uplink
Incoming and outgoing bandwidth are both 320 Mbps, four times the figure of the smaller VIGI recorders, and the uplink is a Gigabit 10/100/1000 Mbps port rather than 100 Mbps. That combination is what makes sixteen full-resolution streams realistic rather than aspirational, and it means remote review does not starve the recording path.
Decoding Built for a Live Wall
TP-Link publishes decoding at 25 fps as 10 channels at 3MP or 16 channels at 1080p, and at 30 fps as 4 channels at 8MP, 6 at 5MP or 8 at 4MP. Sixteen-way live view at 1080p is therefore a supported configuration, not a compromise. HDMI runs to 3840x2160 at 30 Hz with VGA at 1920x1080, and this model supports independent as well as simultaneous output, so two operators can look at different things.
Alarm I/O and Two 16 TB Bays
Six alarm inputs and four alarm outputs allow integration with door contacts, beam sensors, sirens and gate controls — the only recorder in this range to publish them. Storage is two SATA bays at up to 16 TB each plus an eSATA port, with a rear USB 3.0 port for fast export. Drives are not included.
Encrypted Access, SNMP and ONVIF Profile S
The protocol list covers UPnP, NTP, SMTP, DNS, TCP/IP, UDP, ICMP, HTTP, HTTPS, DHCP, RTSP, SSL/TLS, RTP, IPv4, ARP, FTP/SFTP, IPv6 and SNMP. Browser support extends to Safari 11+ alongside Chrome, Firefox and Edge. Interoperability is ONVIF Profile S and CGI, and the smart-detection set is the full one, including loitering, abnormal sound detection and smart frame.

TP-Link publishes the following caveats for this model: calculations are based on laboratory testing and actual data is not guaranteed; a hard disk drive (not included) must be installed for operation; the number of simultaneously playable channels may be fewer than sixteen, or none, if the total resolution exceeds 32MP; this model currently supports ONVIF Profile S; and because of the weight of this model a tray is recommended when mounting into a rack with angle iron — the tray is not included. Note that this model's certification row differs from its siblings, listing NTRA and ONVIF and omitting EAC, UKCA, RCM, Triman and IC; it is reproduced as published rather than harmonised.

Frequently Asked Questions — VIGI NVR2016H-16MP
Will 140 W run sixteen cameras?
For sixteen standard fixed-lens VIGI cameras, yes. A mix that includes illuminated, pan-tilt or dual-lens units needs adding up first — the per-port ceiling is 30 W and the total is what binds.
What can the alarm inputs and outputs be used for?
Six inputs and four outputs let the recorder take triggers from door contacts, beam sensors or panic buttons, and drive sirens, strobes or gate relays on an event. No other recorder in this range publishes alarm I/O.
How much storage does it take?
Two internal SATA bays at up to 16 TB each, plus an eSATA port for external storage. Drives are not supplied.
Can sixteen cameras all be viewed live?
TP-Link publishes 16 channels at 1080p at 25 fps, or 10 channels at 3MP. For a full-resolution wall you would step down the frame rate or use sub-streams for live view and full resolution on recording.
