PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

TP-Link VIGI 16 Channel Network Video Recorder (VIGI NVR2016H) - 5 Years Local Warranty

The VIGI NVR2016H is the two-bay sixteen-channel recorder in TP-Link's VIGI range. Two SATA interfaces take 10 TB each, an eSATA port adds external storage, and the published decoding figure is far higher than the compact NVR1016H — which is what you want when sixteen cameras have to be reviewed as well as recorded.

Two Drive Bays Plus eSATA

Two internal SATA interfaces accept up to 10 TB per drive, for 20 TB in the chassis, and an eSATA port takes external storage beyond that. On a sixteen-camera site that is the difference between a fortnight of footage and a retention window that survives a month-long incident review. The hard disks are not included and must be fitted before the recorder will operate.

Sixteen Channels, No Built-In PoE

A single RJ-45 10/100 Mbps self-adaptive port connects the recorder to the LAN; the cameras are powered by your PoE switch or their own adapters. Incoming bandwidth is 80 Mbps and outgoing 60 Mbps. Multi-view display covers 1, 4, 6, 8, 9 and 16 channels, and synchronous playback covers all sixteen.

8MP Recording With a Real Decoding Budget

Recording runs from 8MP down to QCIF in H.265+, H.265, H.264+ or H.264. Decoding is published as 2-ch at 8MP, 4-ch at 4MP or 8-ch at 2MP at 25 fps, and 4-ch at 3MP or 2-ch at 5MP at 30 fps — several times the NVR1016H's figure, so a live wall of higher-resolution feeds is practical. HDMI outputs up to 3840x2160 at 30 Hz alongside VGA at 1920x1080.

Smart Detection and Fan Monitoring

General alarms cover motion detection, video tampering, line crossing, intrusion, region entering and exiting, object abandoned and removal, vehicle detection, human detection and smart frame. Because this chassis is actively cooled, the anomaly set adds fan exception to video loss, offline and IP conflict, disk exception and login exception. Linkages include recording, white-light alarm, buzzer, log and audible alarm.

ONVIF, VIGI App and VIGI Security Manager

Management runs from the local GUI, a browser (Chrome 57+, Firefox 52+, Edge 91+), the VIGI app on Android and iOS, or VIGI Security Manager. Interoperability is ONVIF and CGI. TP-Link notes that some features may operate sub-optimally with non-VIGI cameras, so test a mixed estate before handover.

Ideal For

Singapore estates, factories, schools and multi-building sites running sixteen cameras where retention matters and the cameras are already on PoE switching. Supplied by SourceIT with local Singapore warranty, GST invoice and project pricing on request.

Published Footnotes

TP-Link publishes the following caveats for this model: the number of simultaneously playable channels may be fewer than sixteen, or none, if the total resolution exceeds 16MP; the decoding capability reaches 16MP only at 25 fps; storage calculations are based on laboratory testing using one 3MP VIGI camera at 25 fps, H.265+ encoding, 2048 Kbps bit rate and 24-hour continuous storage, and are for reference only; a hard disk drive (not included) must be installed for operation; and some features may operate sub-optimally with non-VIGI cameras.

Compatibility & Software Support

This recorder has no PoE ports. Cameras must be powered by a PoE switch, a PoE injector or their own power adapters, and reach the recorder over the LAN.

VIGI Cameras Full support — TP-Link recommends VIGI cameras for best performance
Third-Party Cameras Supported via ONVIF and CGI; TP-Link states some features may operate sub-optimally

Frequently Asked Questions — VIGI NVR2016H

How much storage can it hold?

Two internal SATA bays at up to 10 TB each, so 20 TB inside the chassis, plus an eSATA port for external storage. Drives are not supplied.

Does it power the cameras?

No. The NVR2016H has no PoE ports. If you want the switch built in, look at the sixteen-channel PoE models instead.

How does it compare with the NVR1016H?

Both are sixteen-channel and neither has PoE. The NVR2016H adds a second drive bay, an eSATA port, fan monitoring and a much higher decoding figure — 2-ch at 8MP against 1-ch at 8MP. The NVR1016H is the compact, lower-cost option.

Can it be rack mounted?

It is the full-width 330 mm chassis at 1.9 kg net. Tell us your cabinet type and we will confirm the mounting accessories you need.

What warranty does SourceIT provide?

Five years local Singapore warranty, with a GST invoice on every order.
