TP-Link Tapo C425 KIT Smart Wire-Free Security Camera and Solar Panel
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
TP-Link Tapo Smart Wire-Free Security Camera and Solar Panel (Tapo C425 KIT) - 2 Years Local Warranty
One box, one camera, one panel. TP-Link's published package contents for this kit are a Tapo C425 camera and a Tapo A201 solar panel, with the bracket, extension wire and fixings to mount both. The camera records 2K QHD 4MP at 2560 x 1440 across a 150 degree diagonal view and keeps a 10000 mAh battery topped up from the sun, so nothing needs recharging by hand.
Camera Plus Panel, Bought Once
TP-Link's package content row for the Tapo C425 KIT reads: Tapo C425 Camera x 1, Tapo A201 Solar Panel x 1, Camera Bracket x 1, Extension Wire x 1, Decorative Cover Plate x 1, Mounting Template x 1, Type-C to Micro USB Adapter x 1, Mounting Anchors x 6, Mounting Screws x 6, Waterproof Seals x 2, Battery Charger Cable x 1, Cable Tie x 1, Screw Caps x 2, Quick Start Guide. The panel is the Tapo A201, not the A202 that TP-Link names as the optional accessory on its newer standalone C425 page.
2K QHD Detail Across a 150-Degree View
Maximum resolution is 2K QHD 4MP, 2560 x 1440 pixels, encoded in H.264 at 15, 20, 25 or 30 fps. The kit page publishes a 2.1 mm F2.1 lens covering 150 degrees diagonally, 134 degrees horizontally and 77 degrees vertically — wider than the lens on TP-Link's current V2 standalone C425 page. A 1/3 inch progressive-scan CMOS starlight sensor does the low-light work, with 3DNR and WDR cleaning up noise and backlit doorways.
Full-Colour Night Vision, Four White LEDs
An 850 nm infrared LED array gives monochrome vision to 49 ft, 15 m. Four built-in white LEDs give full-colour night vision instead, so a visitor at the gate is a person in a red shirt rather than a grey shape. They double as a deterrent alongside a siren TP-Link rates at 94 dB, measured at a 4 inch, 10 cm distance. Two-way audio with noise cancellation runs through the built-in microphone and speaker.
On-Device Detection for People, Pets and Vehicles
A single motion sensor with a 130 degree horizontal field of view, paired with an ambient light sensor, drives AI detection that separates motion, person, pet and vehicle. Activity Zones let you mask the pavement or a neighbour's driveway so the phone stops buzzing at traffic. Notifications arrive as system alerts; notifications carrying a snapshot of the event require a Tapo Care subscription. Storage is a microSD card in the camera up to 512 GB, bought separately, or Tapo Care cloud storage.
Solar Charging and IP-Rated Mounting
The Tapo A201 panel charges at up to 5.2 V and 2.5 W through a Type-C port, with the Type-C to Micro USB adapter in the box for a Micro USB charging port. TP-Link states one panel connects to one camera only. The camera body is rated IP66 and the panel IP65, so both handle a Singapore downpour, and the camera measures D64.76 x 116.16 mm without brackets. Operating temperature is -20 to 45 C, with battery charging held to 0 to 45 C.
Ideal For
Singapore landed homes, condominium balconies and shop entrances with a sunny wall and no power point, and anyone tired of bringing a battery camera indoors to charge it twice a year. Supplied by SourceIT with local Singapore warranty, GST invoice and project pricing on request.

Published Footnotes
TP-Link publishes the following caveats for this kit: "45 min of sunlight time is based on standard environmental conditions (1000W/m2, 25 C, AM1.5) and specified working scenes (up to 100 events triggered per day). Actual required time of sunlight may vary."; "The battery is not removable. 300-day battery life is based on Tapo laboratory tests with 230s of use per day. Increased usage of 360s per day reduces battery life to 180 days. The time of use includes recording and watching live views. Actual battery life may vary due to device settings, usage, router specifications, and environmental factors."; "microSD card purchased separately. Actual storage capacity depends on the size of the microSD card used."; "Subscribe for cloud storage at https://www.tapo.com/tapocare/"; "The suitable temperature for Solar Panel is -20 C~45 C. The working temperature range for battery charging should be maintained at 0 C~45 C."; and, on the Singapore page, "Battery-powered camera is not designed for continuous recording. It only records motion clips when activity is detected."
TP-Link does not publish a digital zoom figure, a net or gross weight, a bit-rate figure or a minimum illumination figure for this kit, so none is quoted here. No datasheet PDF is published on the Tapo C425 KIT support page.
Compatibility & Software Support
| Tapo App | Required for setup and daily use; iOS 9.0 or higher, Android 4.4 or higher |
| Tapo Hub | Not required — the camera joins your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi directly, with no hub in the chain |
| Wi-Fi Band | 2.4 GHz only (IEEE 802.11b/g/n). A 5 GHz-only SSID will not work; keep a 2.4 GHz SSID available |
| Voice Control | Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa, per TP-Link's Smart Integration row |
| Local Storage | microSD card in the camera, up to 512 GB, purchased separately |
| Cloud Storage | Tapo Care, by subscription. Snapshot-in-notification needs an active Tapo Care plan |
| Solar Panel Included | Tapo A201, per TP-Link's package content row for this kit. One panel serves one camera, so a second camera needs its own panel |
| Charging Port Adapter | A Type-C to Micro USB adapter is in the box for a camera with a Micro USB charging port |
| Continuous Recording | Not supported — TP-Link states a battery-powered camera records motion clips when activity is detected rather than recording continuously |
| Other Configurations | The Tapo C425 camera on its own, and in 2-pack and 4-pack, all stocked by SourceIT |

Frequently Asked Questions — Tapo C425 KIT
Exactly what is in the box?
TP-Link's package content row for this kit lists one Tapo C425 camera and one Tapo A201 solar panel, plus a camera bracket, extension wire, decorative cover plate, mounting template, a Type-C to Micro USB adapter, six anchors, six screws, two waterproof seals, a battery charger cable, a cable tie, two screw caps and the quick start guide. One camera, not two.
Is the panel the A201 or the A202?
The kit's own package content row names the Tapo A201. TP-Link's newer standalone Tapo C425 page names the Tapo A202 as the optional panel for the camera bought on its own, and the A201's own page lists the C425 among its compatible cameras. The panel you receive with this kit is the A201 as published.
How much sun does it actually need?
TP-Link publishes 45 minutes of direct sunlight per day, measured at 1000 W/m2, 25 C, AM1.5, with up to 100 events triggered per day. A shaded north-facing wall will not deliver that, so aim the panel where it gets real midday sun.
Does it record continuously?
No. TP-Link states plainly that a battery-powered camera is not designed for continuous recording and records motion clips when activity is detected. The solar panel keeps the battery charged; it does not turn the camera into a 24-hour recorder.
What warranty does SourceIT provide?
Two years local Singapore warranty on the kit, with the internal battery covered for six months under TP-Link's replacement-warranty policy, with a GST invoice on every order and support handled here rather than overseas.
