TP-Link Tapo C420 Smart Wire-Free Security Camera 2K QHD IP65 (Add-On Camera)
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
TP-Link Tapo Smart Wire-Free Security Camera (Tapo C420) - 2 Years Local Warranty
The Tapo C420 is the battery camera at the heart of TP-Link's wire-free system: 2K QHD on a 1/3 inch sensor, IP65 weatherproofing and months between charges. It is bought either as the camera in a C420S1, S2 or S4 system, or on its own to add another angle to a hub you already own.
Buy This One to Expand an Existing System
This listing is the single C420 camera. TP-Link publishes the Tapo H200 hub as sold separately for it, with up to four cameras connecting to one hub, so the C420 on its own is the right purchase when you already run a Tapo wire-free system and want to cover another gate, side passage or store room. If you are starting from nothing, the C420S1, C420S2 and C420S4 packages bundle the hub with one, two or four cameras.
2K QHD Detail From a Battery Camera
Video is captured at 2560 x 1440 on a 1/3 inch sensor through a fast 3.18 mm f/1.61 lens, covering a 113 degree view at 15 or 20 fps with H.264 compression. That is genuine identification-grade resolution from a camera with no cable attached to it, which is the whole argument for the wire-free range.
Night Vision to 15 Metres and Months Per Charge
An 850 nm infrared array reaches up to 49 ft, or 15 m, in complete darkness. TP-Link's published battery figure is up to 180 days, measured in its laboratory at 10 to 20 trigger events per day; a camera on a busy frontage will need charging sooner. On-device detection sorts motion from person, pet and vehicle events, so the battery is spent on things that matter.
IP65 and Ten Minutes to Mount
The camera is rated IP65 against water and dust and measures 110.6 x 64.2 x 64.2 mm, small enough to sit under an eave without drawing attention. Mounting screws, templates and a bracket are in the box, the battery is already fitted, and pairing to an existing hub is a press of the SYNC button. TP-Link rates it for -20 to 45 degrees Celsius at 10 to 90 percent relative humidity, non-condensing.
Ideal For
Singapore households and businesses already running a Tapo wire-free system that need one more angle covered, and installers adding cameras to a hub without pulling cable. Supplied by SourceIT with local Singapore warranty, GST invoice and volume pricing on request.

TP-Link publishes no local-storage row for the C420 camera itself; the capacity appears only in the page's feature copy, which states that recordings are saved to the hub-installed microSD card up to 512 GB. The product page's footnote states that a microSD card and the Tapo H200 hub are sold separately, and that up to four cameras connect to one hub; no siren decibel rating, battery capacity in mAh, net weight or certification row is published for this model, so none is claimed here.
Compatibility & Software Support
The Tapo C420 is set up and operated through the Tapo app, which manages every Tapo camera, plug, bulb and sensor in one place. It is a consumer Wi-Fi camera and is not part of the Omada or VIGI business ranges: it cannot be adopted into an Omada Controller and it is not managed by VIGI NVR software.
| Tapo App | Supported — setup and remote viewing from iOS and Android |
| Hub Requirement | Tapo H200 hub sold separately; up to 4 cameras per hub |
| Local Storage | Recordings save to the hub-installed microSD card, up to 512 GB; card sold separately |
| Supplied In | Also supplied as part of the Tapo C420S1, C420S2 and C420S4 systems, which include the hub |
| Wi-Fi Requirement | 2.4 GHz network required; the camera does not join 5 GHz networks |
| Tapo Care | Optional paid cloud storage subscription for snapshots and clips |
| Omada / VIGI Management | Not supported — the Tapo range is separate from TP-Link's Omada and VIGI business lines |
Where you need cameras that integrate with a business NVR or with central network management, ask SourceIT about the VIGI range instead.

Frequently Asked Questions — Tapo C420
Can I use the C420 without a hub?
No. TP-Link publishes the Tapo H200 hub as a separate purchase for this camera, with up to four cameras per hub. If you do not already own a hub, buy the C420S1, C420S2 or C420S4 system instead, which includes one.
How is it different from the Tapo C410 and TC82?
The C410 and TC82 are standalone wire-free cameras that take their own microSD card and need no hub. The C420 is the hub-based camera: higher resolution at 2K QHD 2560 x 1440 against the C410's 2K 3MP 2304 x 1296, and longer infrared reach at 15 m against the C410's 9.1 m, but it has to be paired to an H200.
How long does the battery last?
TP-Link publishes up to 180 days, measured in its laboratory at 10 to 20 trigger events per day. Actual life varies with device settings, usage and environment.
What warranty covers the battery?
The camera carries two years local Singapore warranty as an outdoor camera. TP-Link Singapore's replacement warranty policy limits all internal batteries and battery packs to six months, so the built-in battery is covered for six months.
Can SourceIT quote this in quantity?
Yes. Send the quantity and site details and we will quote, including H200 hubs, microSD cards, mounting and any Tapo accessories you want supplied with them.
