The Tapo TC82 is the battery-powered, hub-free outdoor camera in TP-Link's wire-free line: 2K 3MP on a starlight sensor, twin spotlights for colour night footage, a 94 dB siren and up to 512 GB of recording in the camera itself. Nothing to cable, nothing to subscribe to, and an IP65 body for a Singapore monsoon.
No Cabling, No Hub, No Subscription
The TC82 runs on its own rechargeable lithium-ion battery and takes its own microSD card of up to 512 GB, so it neither needs a mains run nor a Tapo H200 hub to record. Tapo Care cloud storage is available as an optional paid extra, not a requirement. For a rented unit, a gate pillar or a back wall, that removes every practical obstacle to getting a camera up.
2K 3MP With Full-Colour Night Vision
Video is captured at 2304 x 1296 on a 1/2.8 inch progressive-scan starlight CMOS through a 3.17 mm f/1.65 lens, covering 125 degrees diagonally. Two spotlights produce full-colour footage after dark, while an 850 nm infrared mode reaching 9.1 m keeps things discreet. 3D DNR and WDR keep a backlit gateway or a glary afternoon from washing out the frame.
Battery Life Measured in Months, Solar Optional
TP-Link's published figure is up to 180 days from a charge, measured in its laboratory at 250 seconds of use per day, where use covers both recording and watching live view. A dedicated motion sensor with a 110 degree horizontal field wakes the camera only when something happens, and on-device person detection with activity zones stops a busy road draining the battery. The Tapo A201 solar panel is supported, sold separately.
A 94 dB Siren and Two-Way Audio
Detection can trigger a 94 dB siren, measured at 10 cm, alongside the spotlights, so the camera confronts rather than merely records. Two-way audio with noise cancellation through the built-in microphone and speaker lets you speak to a delivery rider or warn somebody off from your phone. Traffic is protected with 128-bit AES encryption with SSL/TLS over WPA/WPA2-PSK.

The 180-day figure is a laboratory result at 250 seconds of use per day and varies with settings, usage, router and environment. Compatibility & Software Support
The Tapo TC82 is set up and operated through the Tapo app, which manages every Tapo camera, plug, bulb and sensor in one place. It is a consumer Wi-Fi camera and is not part of the Omada or VIGI business ranges: it cannot be adopted into an Omada Controller and it is not managed by VIGI NVR software.

What is the difference between the TC82 and the Tapo C410?
TP-Link publishes an identical specification for both: same sensor, lens, resolution, siren, battery arrangement and IP65 rating. They are the same wire-free camera sold under two model designations, so choose on price and availability. Ask SourceIT if you need this confirmed in writing before a tender.
Does it need the Tapo H200 hub?
No. The TC82 records to its own microSD card of up to 512 GB and connects straight to 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. The Tapo C420 is the hub-based camera in this range.
