TP-Link Tapo L900-5 Smart Wi-Fi Light Strip, Multicolor (5 m)
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
TP-Link Tapo Smart Wi-Fi Light Strip (L900-5) - 2 Years Local Warranty
The Tapo L900-5 is a five-metre smart LED light strip that joins your home Wi-Fi directly, with no hub to buy or power. It dims from 1% to 100%, can be cut to fit the run you are lighting, and sticks down with the 3M adhesive already on the back. Control it from the Tapo app, or by voice through Alexa, Google Assistant or Siri Shortcuts.
Five Metres of Colour, Dimmable From 1% to 100%
The strip carries 5,000 mm of colour LEDs rated at a maximum luminous intensity of 2100 mcd, dimmable across the full 1%–100% range from the Tapo app. TP-Link notes that dimming and colour changing are performed via the app and cloud only, so the strip is driven from your phone or a voice assistant rather than an inline dimmer. That range matters in a Singapore home: bright enough to light a display shelf in daylight, low enough to sit behind a television at night.
Cut to the Length the Job Needs
TP-Link designs the L900-5 to be cut, so a single five-metre reel can be trimmed to follow a shelf, a headboard or a kitchen soffit rather than being coiled up behind it. Cut only on the marked points. TP-Link states plainly that “Once you cut the Light Strip, the excess parts cannot be used” — so measure the run first, and buy the L900-10 instead if you need more than five metres — it ships two separate 5 m strips on one controller, not a single continuous 10 m run.
No Hub, No Bridge — Straight Onto Your Wi-Fi
The L900-5 speaks IEEE 802.11 b/g/n on the 2.4 GHz band and connects to a secured home Wi-Fi network on its own. There is no Tapo hub, Zigbee bridge or separate gateway in the chain, which keeps both the cost and the number of things that can fail down. Setup runs through the free Tapo app on iOS or Android, and the same app handles scenes, schedules and away mode.
Voice Control Through Alexa, Google Assistant and Siri Shortcuts
TP-Link states that the strip “can respond to your preferred smart home platform, including Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa” and that “You can also control it via Siri® Shortcuts”. In practice that means the strip can be switched, dimmed and recoloured by voice from whichever speaker is already in the room, and folded into routines alongside the rest of a Tapo installation — plugs, bulbs, sensors and cameras — under one app.
Low Power Draw, Long-Life Emitters
Maximum power consumption is 13.5 W across the full five metres, fed by a supplied adapter that accepts 220–240 V at 50/60 Hz and delivers 12 V DC at 1.0 A — the Singapore mains standard, so no travel adapter is involved. TP-Link's specification table rates the light emitters at 50000 hrs, while its own page also publishes 25000 hours for this model; both are reproduced as published and SourceIT does not reconcile them. Even on the shorter figure, four hours a night is well over fifteen years of evening use. Operating range is -15 ºC to 40 ºC at 10%–90% RH, non-condensing.
Ideal For
Feature walls, TV backlighting, shelving, display cabinets, headboards and kitchen under-cabinet runs in Singapore homes, plus cafes, retail displays and offices that want colour without a lighting contractor. Supplied by SourceIT with local Singapore warranty and GST invoice.

TP-Link publishes no colour-temperature, nominal-luminous-flux or IP rating row for the L900-5, so none is claimed here. TP-Link's own page publishes two different light-emitter lifespan figures for this model, “50000 hrs” and “25000 hours”; both are reproduced as published and SourceIT does not reconcile them. Cutting note, reproduced as published: “Once you cut the Light Strip, the excess parts cannot be used.”

Frequently Asked Questions — L900-5
Can the L900-5 be cut to length?
Yes. TP-Link designs the strip to be cut to fit the run. Note TP-Link's own warning that once the strip is cut, the excess parts cannot be used — so measure before you trim.
Does it need a Tapo hub?
No. The L900-5 connects directly to a secured 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network using IEEE 802.11 b/g/n. There is no hub or bridge to buy.
Can I join two L900-5 reels together for a longer run?
TP-Link publishes no extension or joining specification for the L900-5, so SourceIT does not claim one. For more total length, the L900-10 ships two separate 5 m strips on one controller; TP-Link does not publish them as a single continuous run.
Will it work on Singapore mains?
Yes. The supplied adapter is rated 220–240 V at 50/60 Hz and outputs 12 V DC at 1.0 A.
What warranty does SourceIT provide?
Two years local Singapore replacement warranty, the term TP-Link publishes for its Smart Light Strip category. Every L900-5 sold by SourceIT comes with a GST invoice.
Is stock held locally?
SourceIT holds fast-moving Tapo lines in Singapore. Anything not in local stock is brought in on indent — ask us for the current lead time before committing to a date.
Can SourceIT quote this in volume?
Yes. Send the quantity and the mix of models and we will quote the whole Tapo build — strips, plugs, bulbs, sensors and cameras — with local warranty and support.
