PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

TP-Link Tapo Smart Motion Sensor (T100) - 1 Year Local Warranty

The Tapo T100 is a battery-powered motion sensor for the Tapo smart home system. It watches a 120° field to a maximum of 7 m, reports movement to a Tapo hub over a sub-1 GHz radio rather than Wi-Fi, and triggers whatever you have set up in the Tapo app. It runs on a single CR2450 cell and fixes in place with the supplied 3M adhesive. A Tapo hub is required.

120° Detection Angle, Up to 7 Metres

TP-Link publishes a 120° detection angle and a maximum detection distance of 7 m (23 ft), which is enough to cover a corridor end to end, a stairwell landing, a store room or the approach to a front door from a single mounting point. Because the unit is only 42.3 x 42.3 x 34 mm it can sit on a shelf or in a ceiling corner without drawing attention, and the supplied adhesive means no drilling and nothing to make good afterwards when it moves.

A Sub-1 GHz Link, Not Wi-Fi

The T100 talks to its hub on 868 MHz / 922 MHz rather than joining your Wi-Fi network. Two things follow from that. The sensor is not another client on a router that may already be carrying phones, TVs and cameras, so adding several of them does not crowd the 2.4 GHz band; and a low-power radio of this kind is what allows the unit to run for a long stretch on one coin cell. The trade is that a Tapo hub is not optional - it is the only way the sensor reaches the app.

Automations Built in the Tapo App

Motion becomes a trigger in the Tapo app. A detection can switch on a Tapo bulb, strip or socket, start a recording on a Tapo camera, or send a push notification to your phone, and the same sensor can drive more than one action at once. Because the hub holds the automations, the devices involved do not need to know about each other - you build the rule once and the hub runs it whenever the T100 reports.

One Coin Cell, With TP-Link's Stated Test Basis

Power is one CR2450 battery, included in the box. TP-Link publishes its battery-life claim against a defined test rather than in isolation: "Based on our testing of 50 triggers a day, 25000 triggers in total." Real figures will track how busy the mounting position is - a sensor over a front door in a family flat sees far more triggers a day than one in a store room, and will need a cell sooner.

Ideal For

Singapore homes and small offices already running Tapo who want lights, cameras or alerts to react to movement in a corridor, entryway, stairwell or store room, and anyone adding presence detection without another device on the Wi-Fi network. Supplied by SourceIT with local Singapore warranty and GST invoice.

Compatibility & Software Support

The T100 is a hub-connected sensor: it does not join Wi-Fi and cannot be used on its own. Pair it to a Tapo hub, and the hub carries it into the Tapo app alongside your other Tapo devices.

Tapo Hub Required — e.g. Tapo H100 or Tapo H200
App Tapo app for iOS and Android
Automations Motion detection as a trigger for Tapo devices via the hub
Wi-Fi Not used by the sensor itself — the hub provides the network connection

TP-Link's Singapore specification table for the T100 publishes no third-party platform row, so no Alexa or Google Assistant support is claimed here for this model. Ask us and we will confirm against the hub you intend to pair it with.

Frequently Asked Questions — Tapo T100

Do I need a hub for the Tapo T100?

Yes. TP-Link lists "Hub Required: Yes" for this model. The sensor uses a sub-1 GHz radio and reaches the Tapo app only through a Tapo hub such as the H100 or H200.

How far will it detect movement?

TP-Link publishes a 120° detection angle and a maximum detection distance of 7 m (23 ft). Coverage in practice depends on mounting height and what is in the way.

What battery does it take, and is one included?

One CR2450 coin cell, and TP-Link includes it in the box along with a 3M adhesive pad and the quick start guide.

What warranty does SourceIT provide?
