TP-Link Tapo D230S1 Smart Battery Video Doorbell, 2K 5MP with H200 Hub
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
TP-Link Tapo Smart Battery Video Doorbell (D230S1) - 1 Year Local Warranty
The Tapo D230S1 is a set: a 2K 5MP battery video doorbell at 2560 x 1920 plus a Tapo H200 hub, which doubles as the chime, holds the microSD card and sounds a 100 dB siren. The doorbell links to the hub over Sub-1G 868 MHz, runs on a removable 6700 mAh battery, and detects people, pets, vehicles and packages on device.
2K 5MP at 2560 x 1920, Not 1080p
Maximum resolution is 2K 5MP, 2560 x 1920 pixels, at 15 fps with H.264 video and G.711 audio, and 16x digital zoom for pulling in a face or a courier label. The 1/2.7 inch sensor sits behind an F/NO 2.1 lens with a 160 degree diagonal viewing angle. WDR and 3DNR handle a bright lift lobby against a shaded doorway. The 4:3-shaped 2560 x 1920 frame is taller than a 16:9 doorbell view, which is what keeps a parcel on the floor in shot.
The H200 Hub Is Included, and It Does More Than Chime
The set includes a Tapo H200 hub. It is the chime, it holds the microSD card up to 512 GB so recordings live indoors rather than on the exposed doorbell, it has a 10/100 Mbps RJ45 Ethernet port for a wired backhaul, and it carries a 100 dB siren. It also becomes the hub for the rest of your Tapo kit: up to 64 Sub-1G switches, sensors or buttons plus 4 cameras or video doorbells in total, this doorbell included.
People, Pets, Vehicles and Packages, Detected On Device
Published AI detection covers motion, person, pet, vehicle and package detection, run by on-device machine learning rather than in the cloud. A single PIR motion sensor with a 130 degree horizontal field of view and an ambient light sensor wake the camera. Activity zones are supported, though TP-Link notes they work with motion detection only. Alerts arrive as system notifications, with snapshots and clips available on a Tapo Care subscription.
Removable 6700 mAh Battery and a Wired Hub
The doorbell runs from a removable, rechargeable 6700 mAh lithium-ion battery, supplied as a Tapo A100 in the box. Removable matters: you charge a spare indoors and swap it in a minute instead of taking the doorbell off the wall for hours. TP-Link rates up to 180 days on laboratory testing at 10 to 20 events per day. The H200 hub runs from a 9 V DC adapter, so the indoor half is always powered.
Full-Colour Night Vision and a 96 dB Anti-Theft Siren
An 850 nm infrared LED reaches up to 25 ft, and built-in spotlights give colour footage after dark. Two-way audio with noise cancellation lets you answer a courier from the app. The doorbell itself carries a 96 dB anti-theft siren, measured at 10 cm, and the H200 adds a 100 dB siren indoors. The doorbell is rated IP64 with a published operating range of -20 to 45 C; the H200 hub is an indoor unit and its own page publishes a narrower 0 to 40 C, so site it inside.
Ideal For
Households that want the highest-resolution Tapo doorbell with recordings kept indoors on a hub rather than on the doorbell, a removable battery they can hot-swap, and a starting point for a wider Tapo sensor and camera system. Suits HDB and condominium entrances and landed gates on covered mountings. Supplied by SourceIT with local Singapore warranty, GST invoice and project pricing on request.

Physical, Environment and General
| Doorbell Dimensions (L x W x H) | TP-Link publishes this row as "5.7*0.21*1.3in (146*54.5*35.5mm)". The two halves of TP-Link's own row do not agree — 0.21 in is not 54.5 mm, and 1.3 in is not 35.5 mm. Both halves are reproduced exactly as published; treat the millimetre figures as the usable ones and confirm with TP-Link before cutting a mounting plate. |
| Hub Dimensions (L x W x H) | 71.45 x 71.45 x 31.25 mm (2.8 x 2.8 x 1.2 in) |

| Certifications | CE, RoHS, RCM, R-NZ, FCC, EAC, Triman, UKCA |
The doorbell figures are published on the Tapo D230S1 page; the hub operating temperature is published on the Tapo H200 product page, which gives a narrower range. TP-Link publishes no storage temperature and no humidity range for the H200, so none is quoted here.
Published Footnotes
TP-Link publishes the following caveats for this model, verbatim: "The data is measured based on the optimal installation height of 1.2m of the doorbell, the actual distance will be affected by the installation height."; "Battery life of up to 180 days is based on TP-Link's laboratory testing triggering 10-20 events per day. Actual battery life may vary based on device settings."; "MicroSD card purchased separately."; "Subscribe Tapo Care at https://www.tapo.com/en/tapocare/"; and, against the activity zones row, "Only works with Motion Detection."
TP-Link does not publish the following for the D230S1, so none is quoted here: net weight of the doorbell or the hub, lens focal length, horizontal and vertical field of view (only the 160 deg diagonal is given), video bit rate, the night-vision distance in metres (only "up to 25 ft"), or an IP ingress rating for the hub. The published storage temperature range for the doorbell, -20 to 45 C, is identical to its operating range rather than wider.
Compatibility & Software Support
| Tapo App | Required for setup and daily use — iOS 9.0 or higher, Android 4.4 or higher |
| Tapo Hub | Required, and included — the Tapo H200 ships in this set. The doorbell talks to it over Sub-1G 868 MHz; the hub is the chime and holds the recordings |
| Expanding the System | The included H200 takes up to 64 Tapo Sub-1G switches, sensors or buttons, plus 4 cameras or video doorbells in total — this doorbell counts as one of the four |
| Voice Control | Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa (published as "Smart Integration") |
| Wi-Fi | 2.4 GHz only, IEEE 802.11b/g/n. No 5 GHz band is published |
| Wired Option | The hub has a 10/100 Mbps RJ45 port and an Ethernet cable is in the box, so the hub can sit on cable instead of Wi-Fi |
| Hub Placement | Indoors. TP-Link's H200 page publishes an operating range of 0 to 40 C for the hub, narrower than the doorbell's -20 to 45 C |
| Local Storage | microSD card up to 512 GB, in the hub. TP-Link footnotes "MicroSD card purchased separately" — no card is in the box |
| Cloud Storage | Tapo Care, paid subscription — adds snapshots in notifications and cloud clips |
| Battery Handling | The 6700 mAh pack is removable and is supplied as a Tapo A100, so a spare can be charged and swapped |
| Solar Charging | TP-Link does not publish a solar panel accessory for the D230S1 on its Singapore page. The Tapo A201 panel is published against the D210, not this model, so we do not claim it here |

Frequently Asked Questions — Tapo D230S1
Is the hub really included, or do I buy it separately?
Included. TP-Link's package contents for the D230S1 list one Tapo video doorbell, one Tapo H200 hub and one Tapo A100 battery, along with the adapters, Ethernet cable, brackets, templates, a 15 degree wedge, a detaching pin and a quick start guide. The plain Tapo D230 is a different pack and is not what this listing ships.
Where do recordings go?
Into a microSD card in the H200 hub, up to 512 GB, which is indoors rather than on the exposed doorbell. TP-Link notes the card is purchased separately. Tapo Care cloud storage is an optional paid subscription that adds snapshots in notifications and cloud clips.
How is this different from the Tapo D210?
Resolution, storage location and what ships with it. The D230S1 is 2K 5MP at 2560 x 1920, IP64, with a single 130 degree PIR sensor, a removable 6700 mAh battery and an H200 hub. The D210 is 2K 3MP at 2304 x 1296, IP65, with a dual 150 degree PIR sensor, a built-in battery and a Tapo Doorbell Chime instead of a hub.
What does it detect?
TP-Link publishes motion, person, pet, vehicle and package detection for this model, classified on device. Activity zones are supported, with TP-Link's own note that they work with motion detection only — so a zone will narrow motion alerts, not the person or package alerts.
Can the hub live outdoors with the doorbell?
No. The doorbell is IP64 and rated -20 to 45 C, but TP-Link's H200 page publishes an indoor operating range of 0 to 40 C and no ingress rating, so the hub belongs inside, near your router.
What warranty does SourceIT provide?
One year local Singapore warranty covering the doorbell and the included H200 hub, with a GST invoice on every order. TP-Link Singapore's replacement warranty policy limits all internal batteries and battery packs to six months, so the removable Tapo A100 battery pack is covered for six months.
