The Tapo C210 is the 2K step up from the C200: the same 360 degree pan/tilt coverage, but a larger 1/2.8 inch sensor recording 3MP at 2304 x 1296 instead of 1080p. That extra detail is what lets you identify a face or read a label across a room rather than simply register that someone was there, and it is the reason most buyers move up one model.
2K 3MP Detail From a 1/2.8 Inch Sensor
Video is captured at 2304 x 1296 through a 3.83 mm f/2.4 lens on a 1/2.8 inch sensor — roughly 44 percent more pixels than 1080p, spread across the same scene. In practice that is the difference between usable and useless footage when you zoom into a recording after the event. H.264 compression keeps the bitrate sensible so a single card still holds weeks of history rather than days.
Full 360 Degree Horizontal and 114 Degree Vertical Coverage
The motorised head gives 360 degrees of horizontal view and 114 degrees vertically, so one camera in the corner of a room leaves nowhere unwatched. You can swipe to steer it live in the Tapo app, or let motion tracking follow a moving subject across the frame. For a shop, a clinic reception or an open-plan office this replaces two or three fixed cameras and the cabling that would have gone with them.
Night Vision to 9 m With Sound and Light Alarm
An 850 nm infrared LED illuminates to 30 ft in complete darkness, covering a normal room end to end. Beyond passive recording, the camera carries a sound and light alarm that can be triggered on detection, so an intruder is confronted rather than merely filmed. Two-way audio through the built-in microphone and speaker lets you speak into the room from your phone.
Local Recording With No Subscription
The C210 records to a microSD card of up to 256 GB, which TP-Link rates at around 512 hours or 21 days of footage. There is no compulsory cloud plan: local recording is free and complete, and Tapo Care cloud storage exists only as an optional paid extra for anyone who wants an off-site copy. Traffic to the camera is protected with WPA/WPA2-PSK on the wireless side and 128-bit AES with SSL/TLS in transit.

Compatibility & Software Support
The Tapo C210 is set up and operated through the Tapo app, which manages every Tapo camera, plug, bulb and sensor in one place. It is a consumer Wi-Fi camera and is not part of the Omada or VIGI business ranges; it cannot be adopted into an Omada Controller and it is not managed by VIGI NVR software.

Is the Tapo C210 worth it over the C200?

Does it work on 5 GHz Wi-Fi?
No. The C210 is a 2.4 GHz 802.11b/g/n device. If your router broadcasts both bands under one name, you may need to separate them temporarily during setup.
