PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

TP-Link Tapo Pan/Tilt AI Home Security Wi-Fi Camera (Tapo C225) - 3 Years Local Warranty

The Tapo C225 is the low-light specialist of the indoor range: a 1/2.9 inch starlight sensor behind a fast f/1.6 lens, 2688 x 1520 resolution, and a tilt range of 149 degrees — far more vertical reach than the rest of the family. Wi-Fi 6 support and ten AI detection types complete what is the most capable indoor Tapo pan/tilt camera SourceIT stocks.

A Starlight Sensor and an f/1.6 Lens for Dim Rooms

The combination that matters here is a 1/2.9 inch progressive scan CMOS starlight sensor with an f/1.6 aperture — noticeably faster than the f/2.0 and f/2.4 lenses on the rest of the range. More light reaching a more sensitive sensor is what produces usable colour images in a dim room rather than a grainy monochrome one, and it is the single strongest reason to choose this model over the C220.

149 Degree Tilt and 120 Degrees Per Second of Movement

Coverage is 360 degrees horizontally and 149 degrees vertically, and the head moves at up to 120 degrees per second. The extra vertical range is genuinely useful when the camera is ceiling-mounted or sitting high on a shelf, because it can look almost straight down as well as across — a shortfall on cameras limited to around 114 degrees. Resolution is 2K QHD 4MP at 2688 x 1520, above the C220's 2560 x 1440.

Dual-Wavelength Night Vision and Ten AI Detection Types

Night vision uses one 850 nm and two 940 nm infrared LEDs, each rated to 30 ft; the 940 nm emitters are near-invisible to the eye, so the camera is far less conspicuous in a dark room than one with a bright red LED array. Detection covers motion, person, line-crossing, tamper, baby cry, vehicle, pet, meow, bark and glass-breaking, so alerts can be narrowed to what actually matters.

Wi-Fi 6 Ready, With 512 GB of Local Recording

Uniquely in this group, the C225 lists IEEE 802.11b/g/n/ax — it will associate with a Wi-Fi 6 network on 2.4 GHz rather than falling back to legacy rates, which helps on a congested band. It records to microSD up to 512 GB with no subscription; Tapo Care cloud storage remains optional and paid. Power is a 12 V 1.0 A adapter, and at 80 x 80 x 112 mm it is the most compact body in this comparison.

Ideal For

Singapore homes, clinics, studios and shops with dim interiors or night-time monitoring needs, and ceiling-mounted positions where a wide tilt range matters. Supplied by SourceIT with local Singapore warranty, GST invoice and volume pricing on request.

Compatibility & Software Support

The Tapo C225 is set up and operated through the Tapo app, which manages every Tapo camera, plug, bulb and sensor in one place. It is a consumer Wi-Fi camera and is not part of the Omada or VIGI business ranges; it cannot be adopted into an Omada Controller and it is not managed by VIGI NVR software.

Tapo App Supported — setup and remote viewing from iOS and Android
Wi-Fi Requirement 2.4 GHz network required; the camera supports 802.11ax on that band but does not join 5 GHz networks
Tapo Care Optional paid cloud storage subscription; the camera records locally to microSD without it
Omada / VIGI Management Not supported — the Tapo range is separate from TP-Link's Omada and VIGI business lines

Where you need cameras that integrate with a business NVR or with central network management, ask SourceIT about the VIGI range instead.

Frequently Asked Questions — Tapo C225

Why choose the C225 over the C220?

Low light and coverage. The C225 has a larger 1/2.9 inch starlight sensor, a faster f/1.6 lens, higher 2688 × 1520 resolution and 149 degrees of tilt against the C220's 114. The C220 has the louder siren at 99 dB versus 98 dB.

What does "starlight sensor" actually mean here?

It is TP-Link's term for a sensor tuned for low-light performance. Paired with the f/1.6 aperture, it is what allows a usable colour image in a dim room before the infrared LEDs take over.

Is the night vision visible to the eye?

Partly. The camera carries one 850 nm LED, which glows faintly red, and two 940 nm LEDs, which are effectively invisible. Both are rated to 30 ft.

What warranty does SourceIT provide?

Three years local Singapore warranty, per TP-Link Singapore's replacement warranty policy. Every Tapo C225 sold by SourceIT comes with a GST invoice.

Can SourceIT quote this in quantity?

Yes. Send the quantity and site details and we will quote, including microSD cards sized for the retention you need.
