TP-Link Enhanced AI Solar Security Camera Ultra (Tapo C465) - 2 Years Local Warranty
The Tapo C465 is a wire-free 4K outdoor camera with the solar panel built into the camera body and a 7,800 mAh rechargeable battery behind it. It records 4K 8MP (3840 x 2160) at 15 fps through an F1.65 starlight sensor, connects over dual-band Wi-Fi, runs person, pet and vehicle detection on the camera, and mounts on a magnetic base rated IP65.
Solar Panel Built In, Not Bolted On
Unlike kit cameras that pair a separate panel on a cable, the C465 integrates its solar panel, so there is one unit to mount and no extension lead to route. TP-Link states the camera can run all day on 50 minutes of sunlight, measured under standard test conditions (1000 W/m2, 25°C, AM1.5) with up to 100 events triggered per day. TP-Link also notes the built-in panel cannot be connected to other cameras.
7,800 mAh Battery for Cloudy Spells
When the sun does not cooperate, the built-in 7,800 mAh lithium-ion battery takes over. TP-Link rates it at up to 180 days on a single charge, based on its laboratory tests with 300 seconds of use per day; actual life depends on settings, router, usage and environment. A USB charging cable is in the box for topping up; the mains adapter is not included.
4K Detail with 18x Digital Zoom
The 1/2.7" progressive-scan CMOS starlight sensor and 3.17 mm F1.65 lens give a 134° diagonal field of view at 4K 8MP, with 18x digital zoom, 3DNR and WDR. At night the camera switches between IR mode and full-colour mode, with two built-in spotlights that can be motion-activated or app-controlled. Video is compressed in H.265 or H.264.
Dual-Band Wi-Fi and On-Camera AI
The C465 connects on 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz Wi-Fi with WPA/WPA2-PSK/WPA3 security and 128-bit AES encryption with SSL/TLS. TP-Link notes 5 GHz carries more bandwidth but has shorter range than 2.4 GHz. Motion, person, pet and vehicle detection, activity zones, a 100 dBA siren and two-way audio with noise cancellation are available without a subscription; snapshot notifications need Tapo Care.
Local microSD, Cloud or Hub Storage
Footage can go to a microSD card of up to 512 GB (purchased separately) or to Tapo Care cloud storage by subscription. TP-Link lists the C465 as compatible with the Tapo H500 hub, which is not included. There is no Ethernet port, and TP-Link lists RTSP and ONVIF as not supported, so this is a Tapo-app camera rather than an NVR camera.

TP-Link's Singapore page for the Tapo C465 publishes no weight, no IR LED count or IR range, and no solar panel wattage. Its footnote gives the solar panel's suitable operating temperature as -4°F to 113°F and battery charging as 32°F to 113°F, which is narrower than the 122°F charging figure in the spec table; a feature panel on the same page also quotes -40°F to 140°F, which matches the storage (not operating) range. The table figures are shown as published.

Frequently Asked Questions — Tapo C465
Does the C465 need a separate solar panel?
No. The solar panel is integrated into the camera. TP-Link states it cannot be connected to other cameras.
Can it record to an NVR?
TP-Link lists RTSP and ONVIF as not supported and there is no Ethernet port. Recording is to microSD, Tapo Care cloud or a compatible Tapo H500 hub.
Is there a monthly fee for AI detection?
No. Person, pet and vehicle detection work without a subscription. Cloud recording and snapshot notifications need Tapo Care.
