TP-Link Tapo Pan/Tilt AI Home Security Wi-Fi Camera (Tapo C250) - 3 Years Local Warranty
The Tapo C250 is an indoor pan/tilt camera that records in 4K 8MP and turns to follow what matters. It covers 360° horizontally and 116° vertically, detects people, pets and a crying baby with free on-device AI, and zooms in automatically on moving people and pets, recording to a microSD card of up to 512 GB.
4K 8MP Detail, 18x Digital Zoom
Video is captured at 3840 x 2160 on a 1/2.7 inch CMOS sensor behind a 4 mm F1.6 lens, compressed in H.265 to keep file sizes manageable. With 18x digital zoom there is enough resolution to read detail across a living room, shop floor or office after the event.
Auto-Zoom Tracking Across 360°
The head pans through a 340° mechanical range for 360° coverage and tilts through 70° for 116° of tilt coverage. AI auto-zoom tracking follows and zooms in on moving people and pets, even from a distance, so the subject stays framed without you steering the camera.
Free Smart AI Detection
On-device detection covers motion, people, pets, vehicles, line crossing, lens tampering, baby crying and abnormal sounds such as glass breaking, a cat's meow or a dog's bark, with no subscription needed. A PIR motion sensor helps reduce false triggers, activity zones narrow alerts, and customisable block zones keep private areas out of view.
Night Vision, Alarm and Two-Way Audio
Two 850 nm IR LEDs give night vision up to 40 ft. A 96 dB sound and light alarm warns off unwanted visitors, and two-way audio with noise cancellation lets you talk through the camera, which also makes it a capable baby monitor. RTSP and ONVIF (Profile S) support lets you record the stream in third-party software.

Compatibility & Software Support
The Tapo C250 is set up and operated through the Tapo app, which manages every Tapo camera, plug, bulb and sensor in one place. It is a consumer Wi-Fi camera and is not part of the Omada or VIGI business ranges: it cannot be adopted into an Omada Controller and it is not managed by VIGI NVR software.

Frequently Asked Questions — Tapo C250
How is the C250 different from the Tapo C260?
Both are 4K 8MP indoor pan/tilt cameras with 18x digital zoom and 40 ft night vision. The C250 adds AI auto-zoom tracking, a PIR motion sensor, H.265 compression and a 96 dB siren, and connects on 2.4 GHz only. The C260 adds face recognition, a physical privacy mode, dual-band 2.4 and 5 GHz Wi-Fi and a 90 dB siren.
Can I use it outdoors?
No. TP-Link lists no weather resistance for the C250 and an operating range of 0 °C to 40 °C, so it is an indoor camera. For outdoor pan/tilt coverage, look at the Tapo C500 or C530WS.
Does it need a subscription?
No. Person, pet, baby-cry and sound detection run on the camera and footage records to a microSD card of up to 512 GB (sold separately). Tapo Care is optional for cloud storage and snapshot notifications.
What warranty does SourceIT provide?
