The Tapo C216 is a compact pan/tilt camera that works just as well on a shelf indoors as it does under the eaves outside. It records 2K 3MP video, pans 340 degrees horizontally and 105 degrees vertically, follows movement on its own, and switches to full-colour night footage with built-in spotlights. The IP65 housing and a USB Type-C 5 V supply keep installation simple wherever you put it.
2K 3MP Pan/Tilt Coverage That Follows Movement
Video is captured at 2304 x 1296 on a 1/3 inch Starlight CMOS sensor at 30 fps. The head pans through 340 degrees horizontally and 105 degrees vertically, so one camera covers a whole living room, porch or side gate, and when it detects motion it automatically follows the subject across the scene.
Full-Colour Night Vision With a Sound and Light Alarm
Built-in spotlights let the C216 record in full colour after dark instead of infrared black and white, and the 850 nm infrared array reaches 40 ft (12 m) when you prefer it to stay discreet. A sound and light alarm can be triggered to scare off unwanted visitors, and two-way audio with noise cancellation lets you speak through the camera.
Smart AI Detection With Activity Zones
On-device detection identifies motion and people, recognises a crying baby and flags camera tampering. Activity zones let you limit motion and person alerts to the parts of the frame that matter, and traffic is protected with 128-bit AES encryption with SSL/TLS.
Local Recording, RTSP and ONVIF
Footage records to a microSD card of up to 512 GB, with Tapo Care cloud storage as an optional subscription. RTSP and ONVIF support let you pull the stream into third-party recording software, and the camera works with Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa and Samsung SmartThings.

The Tapo C216 is set up and operated through the Tapo app, which manages every Tapo camera, doorbell, plug, bulb and sensor in one place. It is a consumer Wi-Fi device and is not part of the Omada or VIGI business ranges: it cannot be adopted into an Omada Controller and it is not managed by VIGI NVR software.

Can the C216 be used outdoors?
Yes. It is rated IP65 and is designed for indoor or outdoor placement, on a tabletop, a wall or a ceiling. The supplied power cable is 2 m, so plan for a sheltered power point within reach.
Does it record in colour at night?
Yes. Built-in spotlights give full-colour night footage. The 850 nm infrared mode, reaching 40 ft (12 m), remains available when you would rather the camera stayed unlit.
Can I pull the stream into my own recording software?
Yes. TP-Link lists RTSP and ONVIF support for the Tapo C216, so it is not locked to the Tapo app.
