PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

TP-Link AV1000 Gigabit Powerline Starter Kit (TL-PA7017 KIT) - 3 Years Local Warranty

The TL-PA7017 KIT is TP-Link's compact non-passthrough AV1000 powerline pair: a Gigabit Ethernet port on a small wall-plug body, HomePlug AV2 underneath, and a Pair button instead of a setup screen. It is the straightforward way to get a wired link into a room the router's Wi-Fi does not serve properly, without running new cable.

AV1000 Class Powerline on HomePlug AV2

TP-Link's feature copy for this model gives data transfer rates of up to 1000 Mbps; the specification table itself carries no transmission-speed row, so that figure is quoted here as marketing copy rather than a published specification. What the table does publish is the standards set: HomePlug AV2, HomePlug AV, IEEE 1901, IEEE 802.3, IEEE 802.3u and IEEE 802.3ab. TP-Link's footnote is explicit that maximum powerline rates are physical rates from the HomePlug specification and that real throughput varies with electrical interference, traffic, network overhead, AFCI breakers and circuit separation.

Small Body, One Gigabit Port

At 65 x 52 x 28.5 mm the TL-PA7017 is one of the smallest Gigabit powerline adapters TP-Link makes, so it sits flush against a wall point and does not foul the socket beside it. Each adapter carries a single Gigabit Ethernet port. There is no passthrough socket on this model — if you need to keep the wall outlet usable, the TL-PA7017P KIT is the passthrough version of the same class.

128-bit AES and a Pair/Reset Button

Powerline traffic is encrypted with 128-bit AES. Setup is done from the Pair/Reset button: plug both adapters in, press Pair on each within the pairing window, and the two form an encrypted network. Power draw is modest — a maximum of 2.7 W, typical 2.3 W and 0.5 W standby, all measured by TP-Link at 220 V/50 Hz.

Rated to 300 Metres of Wiring

TP-Link rates the range at 300 metres over the electrical circuit, which in practice covers any Singapore flat, terrace or small office served by one consumer unit. The operating window is 0°C~40°C with storage from -40°C to 70°C, and humidity 10%~90% non-condensing in operation.

Ideal For

Singapore homes and small offices needing one reliable wired drop where Wi-Fi is weak, renters who cannot drill for structured cabling, and anyone adding a wired link to a smart TV, console or desktop in a back room. Supplied by SourceIT with local Singapore warranty, GST invoice and volume pricing on request.

Note: TP-Link's package-content row for this kit is written in the singular ("Powerline Ethernet Adapter", one Ethernet cable) even though the product is sold as a two-adapter starter kit, and the page publishes no compatibility row, no net weight and no FCC certification. We reproduce the row as published rather than correcting it, and state no quantity TP-Link does not state. Please confirm cable quantity with us before ordering if it matters to your installation.

TP-Link publishes no compatibility row, no Ethernet rate row, no QoS row, no net weight and no FCC certification for this model, so none is claimed here. This model has no passthrough socket.

Compatibility & Software Support
Powerline Standard HomePlug AV2 and HomePlug AV, with IEEE 1901 support
Other Powerline Adapters TP-Link publishes no compatibility row for this model; its footnote states compatibility with all HomePlug AV and AV2 standard powerline adapters
G.hn Powerline Not applicable — HomePlug AV2 and G.hn are different powerline standards and do not interoperate
Router Compatibility Works with a standard router or gateway. TP-Link cautions the product may not be compatible with routers or gateways whose firmware has been altered, is based on open source programs, or is non-standard or outdated
Utility tpPLC Utility, downloadable from TP-Link support
Setup Pair/Reset button; no software required for a basic link

Both adapters should sit on the same consumer unit. Extension leads, RCD/AFCI breakers and separate circuits all reduce throughput.

What's in the Box

Package Contents (as published by TP-Link) Powerline Ethernet Adapter, 6.5 ft. (2 m) Ethernet cable (RJ45), Quick Installation Guide

TP-Link's package row is written in the singular on a product sold as a starter kit of two adapters. We reproduce it as published and do not state a quantity TP-Link does not state — ask us to confirm before ordering if the cable count matters.

Frequently Asked Questions — TL-PA7017 KIT

Does this model have a passthrough socket?

No. The Interface row lists a Gigabit Ethernet port only, with no power socket. If you need to keep the wall outlet usable, choose the TL-PA7017P KIT.

How is it different from the TL-PA7017P KIT?

Same AV1000 class and the same single Gigabit port, but the P model adds the passthrough socket and is physically larger at 58 x 42 x 95 mm against this model's 65 x 52 x 28.5 mm.

Can I add a third adapter?

Yes. TP-Link's footnote covers compatibility with HomePlug AV and AV2 standard adapters, so another unit of the same family can be paired into the network. It will not interoperate with G.hn powerline products such as the Deco PX50.

What warranty does SourceIT provide?

Three years local Singapore warranty, in line with TP-Link's published replacement warranty for this category. Every unit sold by SourceIT comes with a GST invoice.

Can SourceIT quote this in volume?

Yes. Send us the quantity and the delivery date and we will quote, including advice where the wiring layout is unusual.
