TP-Link TL-WPA4220 Powerline 600 Wi-Fi Powerline Extender
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
TP-Link Powerline 600 Wi-Fi Powerline Extender (TL-WPA4220) - 3 Years Local Warranty
The TL-WPA4220 is the single-unit version of TP-Link's long-running entry-level powerline Wi-Fi extender: two Fast Ethernet ports and 300 Mbps 2.4 GHz wireless in one wall-plug body. TP-Link states plainly that it is an add-on unit — it must be deployed on the same circuit as at least one other adapter, so it joins an existing powerline network rather than forming one by itself.
An Add-On Unit, Not a Standalone
TP-Link's own footnote for this model reads: "TL-WPA4220 is an add-on unit and it must be deployed on the same circuit with other adapters in a set of two or more." If you have no powerline adapter at the router yet, order the TL-WPA4220 KIT, which pairs this extender with a TL-PA4010. Bought correctly, it is the cheapest way to add one more Wi-Fi-covered, wired room to a powerline network you already run.
HomePlug AV Powerline Over Existing Wiring
Published standards are HomePlug AV, IEEE802.3, IEEE802.3u and IEEE802.11b/g/n, rated to 300 metres over the electrical circuit. TP-Link publishes no powerline throughput row for this model — "600" appears in the product name only — so no speed figure is printed here that TP-Link does not publish. Power draw is 5.308 W maximum, 5.086 W typical and 4.170 W standby at 220 V/50 Hz.
300 Mbps 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi With Wi-Fi Clone
Wireless is single-band: 11n up to 300 Mbps, 11g up to 54 Mbps, 11b up to 11 Mbps, all dynamic. The Wi-Fi/Wi-Fi Clone button copies the router's network name and password onto the extender in one press, so phones and laptops roam onto it without reconfiguration. Wireless security covers 64/128-bit WEP, WPA/WPA2 and WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK, and powerline traffic is separately encrypted with 128-bit AES.
Two Fast Ethernet Ports and Full Published Radio Figures
The unit carries two 10/100 Mbps Ethernet ports — Fast Ethernet, not Gigabit — enough for a TV, console or printer. Unusually at this price, TP-Link publishes complete reception-sensitivity figures from -68 dBm at 270M down to -90 dBm at 1M, plus transmission power of CE <20 dBm at 2.4 GHz. The certification row for the single unit reads CE, FCC and RoHS.
Ideal For
Singapore homes and small offices already running TP-Link powerline that need one more room covered, and anyone who wants a wired port plus local Wi-Fi in a back bedroom or store room without running cable. Supplied by SourceIT with local Singapore warranty, GST invoice and volume pricing on request.
Note: TP-Link publishes some rows differently on this single-unit page than on the TL-WPA4220 KIT page for the same hardware — certification reads CE, FCC, RoHS here against CE, RoHS on the kit page; power consumption is 5.308 W maximum here against 7.608 W on the kit page (which may be the pair, though TP-Link does not say so); and the dimensions are given in a different axis order under the same "W x D x H" label. We reproduce each page as published rather than harmonising the two. The package row still lists a Resource CD. Most gallery renders show the EU plug; the Singapore SKU is the UK-plug variant, shown in product view 3. TP-Link publishes no net weight and no mesh row for this model, so neither is claimed.

Frequently Asked Questions — TL-WPA4220
Can I buy just one?
Only if you already have a powerline adapter at the router. TP-Link states this is an add-on unit that must be deployed on the same circuit as other adapters, in a set of two or more. Starting from scratch, order the TL-WPA4220 KIT.
Are the Ethernet ports Gigabit?
No — two 10/100 Mbps ports. For Gigabit, look at the TL-WPA8631P, which publishes three Gigabit ports.
Is the Wi-Fi dual-band?
No. It is 2.4 GHz only, at up to 300 Mbps on 11n.
What warranty does SourceIT provide?
Three years local Singapore warranty, in line with TP-Link's published replacement warranty for this category. Every unit sold by SourceIT comes with a GST invoice.
Can SourceIT quote this in volume?
