PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

TP-Link 5-Port Gigabit Desktop Switch (TL-SG1005D) - 5 Years Local Warranty

The TL-SG1005D is the five-port Gigabit desktop switch for sites that need a few more wired ports and nothing else: 2.4 W maximum draw, no fan, no configuration, and a 140 mm case that fits behind a monitor or inside an AV cabinet. Green Technology, 802.3x flow control, back pressure and 802.1p/DSCP QoS are all handled in hardware.

Five Gigabit Ports, Nothing to Configure

Five 10/100/1000 Mbps RJ45 ports with auto-negotiation and Auto MDI/MDIX. There is no web interface, no login and no controller adoption — plug the uplink into the router or upstream switch and the remaining four ports serve desks, a printer, a NAS or an access point. For a small workgroup or a meeting room, that is the entire deployment.

2.4 W Maximum, Completely Silent

TP-Link publishes a 2.4 W maximum consumption and 8.2 BTU/h of heat, from an external 9 V DC / 0.6 A adapter. There is no fan, so the switch makes no noise and adds nothing meaningful to a room's heat load. That is what lets it sit on a desk, in a consulting room or inside furniture rather than being banished to a cabinet.

QoS, Flow Control and Back Pressure in Hardware

802.1p/DSCP QoS gives marked voice and video traffic priority handling where the upstream network sets the markings. 802.3x flow control manages congestion on full-duplex links and back pressure does the same on half-duplex legacy links, so a slow endpoint cannot cause the switch to drop frames unnecessarily. Store-and-forward switching validates each frame before it is forwarded.

140 mm Case, 23 mm Tall

At 140 x 88 x 23 mm the TL-SG1005D disappears into the places small switches actually go — behind a display, under a desk, in a shallow wall box, inside a reception counter. It carries no physical security lock, so where a switch sits in the open and needs to be cabled down, the TL-SG105 is the better choice. V8 is the current hardware, with V7 also listed.

Ideal For

Singapore small offices, meeting rooms, retail counters and home offices that need four extra Gigabit ports off a single uplink, with nothing to manage and nothing to power over Ethernet. Supplied by SourceIT with local Singapore warranty, GST invoice and project pricing on request.

Reproduced exactly as TP-Link publishes it for the V8 hardware. TP-Link publishes an unusually short specification table for this model: no standards and protocols list, no switching capacity, packet forwarding rate, MAC address table, packet buffer, jumbo frame, network media, EAN or carton pack size figure appears on the product page. Those rows are omitted rather than calculated or carried across from the TL-SG1008D or TL-SG105, which are different products. The certification row lists FCC and RoHS only, with no CE mark stated.

Compatibility & Software Support

The TL-SG1005D is an unmanaged switch with no PoE. There is no web interface, command line or controller adoption.

Omada SDN Controller Not supported — this model cannot be adopted into an Omada Software, Hardware or Cloud-Based Controller
Omada App / Cloud Access Not supported

Frequently Asked Questions — TL-SG1005D

How does it differ from the TL-SG105?

Both are five-port Gigabit desktop switches. TP-Link publishes a fuller specification for the TL-SG105 — IGMP Snooping, a 1 Mb packet buffer, a 7.4 Mpps forwarding rate — in a smaller 100 mm square metal case on a 5 V adapter. The TL-SG1005D is the wider 140 mm unit on a 9 V adapter. Ask us if multicast video is involved.

Does it supply PoE?

No. For powered cameras or access points, look at the TL-SG1005P, TL-SG1005LP or TL-SG105PE.

Can it be adopted into an Omada Controller?

No. It is unmanaged and has no management interface of any kind.

Can it be locked down physically?

No. TP-Link publishes Physical Security Lock as "No" for this model. If the switch will sit in the open, consider the TL-SG116 or a switch inside a lockable cabinet.

What warranty does SourceIT provide?

Five years local Singapore warranty, in line with TP-Link's replacement warranty policy for unmanaged Gigabit switches. Every unit sold by SourceIT comes with a GST invoice.
