PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
TP-Link Omada Pro 48-Port 2.5G Stackable L3 Managed Switch with 6 25G Slots (S6500-48M6Y) - 5 Years Local Warranty
The S6500-48M6Y is the non-PoE sibling of the S6500-48MPP6Y: 48× 100M/1G/2.5G RJ45 ports, six 1/10/25G SFP28 uplinks, 12-unit stacking and full Layer 3 routing in 1U — a multi-gigabit access switch for desktops, workstations and devices that are powered locally.
48× 2.5G RJ45 Ports for Multi-Gigabit Desks
Every RJ45 port runs at 100 Mbps, 1 Gbps or 2.5 Gbps, so existing Cat5e/Cat6 cabling can carry multi-gigabit traffic to workstations, NAS devices and locally powered access points without re-cabling. Switching capacity is 540 Gbps per unit and forwarding 401.7 Mpps, with a 3 MB packet buffer and 32 K MAC addresses.
Six 25G Uplinks and 12-Unit Stacking
Six 1/10/25G SFP28 slots connect to the aggregation layer or form the stack: up to 12 units in standalone mode, with up to 300 Gbps of stack bandwidth over six stacking ports. Stacking runs only over 25G DAC or 25G SFP28 modules, and no more than two SM5310-T 10G RJ45 modules are supported, in slots 49 and 53.
Layer 3 Routing at the Access Layer
OSPFv2 with graceful restart and BFD, OSPFv3, BGPv4, IS-ISv4/v6 with BFD, RIP and RIPng, VRRP v2/v3, PBR, uRPF and PIM-SM/DM/SSM are supported. The switch holds 10,240 IPv4 network routes (shared with IPv6), 6,100 host routes and 12,288 dynamic ARP entries, with ECMP across up to 32 next hops.
Hot-Swap Power and Cooling
Two field-replaceable, hot-swappable power supply bays and four hot-swappable fans keep the switch serviceable in the rack. It ships with one PSM550-AC module by default; the redundant second module is a separate purchase. TP-Link's datasheet also gives a 70.6 W standby power consumption against a 114.2 W maximum.
MACsec and Edge Security
MACsec (gcm-aes-128, gcm-aes-256) encrypts traffic on the wire, with 802.1X (port- and MAC-based, MAB, guest VLAN), RADSEC, TACACS+, dynamic ARP inspection, ND detection, IPv4/IPv6 source guard, port security up to 64 MAC addresses per port and Secure Boot. IEEE 802.3az Energy Efficient Ethernet and cable diagnostics help day-to-day operation.
Centralized Management Through Omada Pro
TP-Link positions the S6500-48M6Y for its Omada Pro platform: the switch is managed centrally from the Omada Pro Cloud-Based, Hardware or Software Controller, with the Omada App and cloud access working through that controller. Zero-Touch Provisioning lets a replacement or new unit be pre-configured in the Omada Pro Cloud-Based Controller and pull its configuration on first boot, so a site does not need an engineer on hand with a console cable. Where a controller is not wanted, the switch is fully manageable on its own through the web GUI, CLI (console or telnet) and SNMPv1/v2c/v3.
Ideal For
Offices, engineering and design floors, labs and schools that need 2.5G to the desk with 25G uplinks, routed access and redundant power, on sites where endpoints do not need PoE. Supplied by SourceIT with local Singapore warranty, GST invoice and project pricing on request.

TP-Link Footnotes
*Ships with one PSM550-AC module by default, and another field-replaceable redundant power supply requires a separate purchase.
†These functions require the use of the Omada Pro SDN Controller. Zero-Touch Provisioning requires the use of the Omada Pro Cloud-Based Controller.
△Supports 12 units of physical stacking in standalone mode.
**No more than two 10G RJ45/SFP+ modules (SM5310-T) are supported, and they can only be inserted into SFP+ slots 49&53.
***The 25G SFP28 slots support stacking only through 25G DAC/25G SFP28 modules rather than 10G DAC/10G SFP+ modules.
Standby power consumption is from TP-Link's datasheet; the product page publishes the 114.2 W maximum only.
Compatibility & Software Support
The S6500-48M6Y is an Omada Pro switch. TP-Link lists the Omada Pro controllers — not the standard Omada SDN controller — as its centralized-management platform, so plan the controller with the switch.

| Omada App | Supported — through an Omada Pro Controller |
| Cloud Access | Supported — through an Omada Pro Controller |
| Zero-Touch Provisioning | Supported — requires the Omada Pro Cloud-Based Controller |
| Standalone Management | Supported — web-based GUI, CLI (console port, telnet) and SNMPv1/v2c/v3 |
| Stacking Mode Limit | Up to 12 units in standalone mode |
| Transceivers & Cabling | 1/10/25G SFP28 slots (no more than two SM5310-T 10G RJ45/SFP+ modules, in slots 49 and 53 only); stacking only through 25G DAC/25G SFP28 modules rather than 10G DAC/10G SFP+ modules. |
TP-Link's note: these functions require the use of the Omada Pro SDN Controller. Zero-Touch Provisioning requires the use of the Omada Pro Cloud-Based Controller.

Frequently Asked Questions — S6500-48M6Y
Does the S6500-48M6Y need an Omada controller?
No. The S6500-48M6Y can be run standalone through its web-based GUI or the CLI (console port or telnet). TP-Link lists the Omada Pro Cloud-Based, Hardware and Software Controllers for centralized management; the Omada App and cloud access work through an Omada Pro Controller, and Zero-Touch Provisioning requires the Omada Pro Cloud-Based Controller. Tell SourceIT which controller your site already runs and we will confirm the fit before you order.
Does the S6500-48M6Y ship with redundant power supplies?
Not as standard. The S6500-48M6Y has two field-replaceable, hot-swappable power supply bays (100–240 VAC, 50/60 Hz), but TP-Link ships it with one PSM550-AC module by default. The second, redundant module is a separate purchase — add a PSM550-AC to the order if the switch must keep running through a power-supply failure. SourceIT can supply it with the switch.
What warranty does SourceIT provide?
Five years local Singapore warranty. Every S6500-48M6Y sold by SourceIT comes with a GST invoice.
Is stock held locally?
Campus-class switches such as the S6500-48M6Y are typically brought in on indent rather than held on the shelf. Ask SourceIT for the current lead time before committing to a project date.
Can SourceIT quote this for a project or tender?
Yes. Send the bill of materials and we will quote the whole build — core and aggregation switching, access switches, power supply modules, transceivers and DAC cables — with local warranty and support.
Is this model available for project orders?
Yes. TP-Link supplies this model for project deployments; contact SourceIT with your bill of materials for pricing and lead time.
