PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

TP-Link Omada Pro 24-Port 2.5G Stackable L3 Managed PoE++ Switch with 4 25G Slots (S6500-24MPP4Y) - 5 Years Local Warranty

The S6500-24MPP4Y is the PoE++ model in TP-Link's Omada Pro S6500 campus line: 24 ports of 2.5G with 60 W 802.3bt PoE++ on every port, four 25G SFP28 uplinks, a full L3 routing stack including BGP, IS-IS and VRF, and two hot-swappable power-supply bays. Read the power section carefully before ordering — the headline 1440 W PoE budget depends on which power supply modules are fitted, and the switch ships with only one.

24 × 2.5G PoE++ Ports at Up to 60 W Each

All 24 RJ45 ports run at 100 Mbps/1 Gbps/2.5 Gbps and are IEEE 802.3bt/at/af compliant, with each port able to supply up to 60 W. That lets one switch feed multi-gigabit Wi-Fi 7 access points, PTZ cameras and other high-draw powered devices directly, with a 2.5G link to each so the uplink from a Wi-Fi 7 AP is not capped at Gigabit.

PoE Budget Depends on the Power Supplies Fitted

TP-Link quotes a PoE budget of up to 1440 W, and footnotes that the total PoE budget varies with the power supply modules. Per the S6500-24MPP4Y datasheet: 751 W with the single PSM900-AC it ships with by default; 378 W with one PSM500-AC; 802 W with two PSM500-AC; 1168 W with one PSM500-AC plus one PSM900-AC; and the full 1440 W only with two PSM900-AC. The second module is a separate purchase, so budget a second PSM900-AC into the order if you need more than 751 W of PoE or want N+1 power redundancy.

320 Gbps Per Unit and 12-Unit Stacking Over 25G

Four 1/10/25G SFP28 slots give 320 Gbps switching capacity and 238.1 Mpps forwarding per unit. Up to 12 units can be physically stacked (in standalone mode) for up to 200 Gbps stacking bandwidth across four stacking ports. TP-Link notes the 25G slots stack only through 25G DAC or 25G SFP28 modules, not 10G DAC or 10G SFP+ modules — specify 25G optics or DACs for the stack links.

Full L3 Routing: OSPF, BGP, IS-IS, VRF, VRRP, ECMP and PBR

Unlike the Lite L3 access switches, the S6500 carries a complete routing feature set: OSPFv2/v3, BGPv4, IS-IS, RIP/RIPng, VRF, VRRP (up to 64 instances), PIM-SM/DM/SSM multicast routing, ECMP with up to 32 next-hops per destination, policy-based routing and uRPF, with 10,240 IPv4 network routes. BFD gives sub-second failure detection so routing protocols re-converge quickly, and ERPS provides fast recovery in ring topologies.

MACsec, Secure Boot and RADSEC for Hardened Campus Edges

Security goes beyond the usual 802.1X, ACL and DHCP/ARP protection: MACsec (GCM-AES-128/256) encrypts links at Layer 2, Secure Boot protects the firmware chain, and RADSEC secures RADIUS traffic. Four field-replaceable, hot-swappable fans and two field-replaceable power supply bays mean the common failure parts can be swapped without taking the switch out of the rack.

Managed Through Omada Pro, With NETCONF and Zero-Touch Provisioning

This is an Omada Pro switch: TP-Link lists the Omada Pro Cloud-Based, Hardware and Software Controllers for centralised management, with Zero-Touch Provisioning requiring the Omada Pro Cloud-Based Controller. Omada Pro adds features such as Intelligent Anomaly Detection, and the switch can also be configured via NETCONF, the web GUI or the CLI.

Ideal For

Campus distribution and high-density access closets in schools, hospitals, hotels and corporate buildings feeding Wi-Fi 7 access points and high-power PoE devices, especially where an Omada Pro deployment, MACsec or full L3 routing is specified. Supplied by SourceIT with local Singapore warranty, GST invoice and project pricing on request.

Notes

* The total PoE budget varies with the power supply modules. PoE budget calculations are based on laboratory testing; actual PoE power budget is not guaranteed and will vary as a result of client limitations and environmental factors.

** Ships with one PSM900-AC module by default; another field-replaceable redundant power supply requires a separate purchase.

No more than two 10G RJ45/SFP+ modules (SM5310-T) are supported, and they can only be inserted into SFP+ slots 25 & 27.

The 25G SFP28 slots support stacking only through 25G DAC/25G SFP28 modules rather than 10G DAC/10G SFP+ modules.

12-unit physical stacking is supported in standalone mode. Controller functions require the Omada Pro SDN Controller; Zero-Touch Provisioning requires the Omada Pro Cloud-Based Controller.

TP-Link's page lists operating temperature at 2,000 m and 3,000 m only for this model.

Compatibility & Software Support

The S6500-24MPP4Y is an Omada Pro switch. TP-Link lists the Omada Pro controller family for its centralised management, so plan it into an Omada Pro deployment rather than a standard Omada SDN controller site. Cloud, app and Zero-Touch Provisioning features require adoption into an Omada Pro Controller.

Omada Pro Controller Supported — Omada Pro Cloud-Based Controller, Omada Pro Hardware Controller or Omada Pro Software Controller
Omada App Yes, through Omada Pro Controller
Cloud Access Yes, through Omada Pro Controller
Zero-Touch Provisioning Yes — requires the Omada Pro Cloud-Based Controller
Standalone Management Web-based GUI, CLI (console port, telnet, SSHv2), NETCONF, SNMPv1/v2c/v3

Frequently Asked Questions — S6500-24MPP4Y

Does the S6500-24MPP4Y need a controller?

No. It can be run standalone through its web interface, CLI or NETCONF. Centralised configuration, monitoring, cloud and app access, and Zero-Touch Provisioning come from adopting it into an Omada Pro Controller (Cloud-Based, Hardware or Software); Zero-Touch Provisioning specifically requires the Omada Pro Cloud-Based Controller.

Does the S6500-24MPP4Y ship with both power supplies?

No. It ships with one PSM900-AC, which gives a 751 W PoE budget per TP-Link's datasheet. The full 1440 W budget and N+1 power redundancy need a second PSM900-AC, purchased separately — SourceIT can quote it on the same order.

What warranty does SourceIT provide?

Five years local Singapore warranty. Every S6500-24MPP4Y sold by SourceIT comes with a GST invoice.

Is stock held locally?

SourceIT holds fast-moving Omada lines in Singapore. Anything not in local stock is brought in on indent — ask us for the current lead time before committing to a project date.

Is this model available for project orders?

Yes. TP-Link supplies this model for project deployments; contact SourceIT with your bill of materials for pricing and lead time.

Can SourceIT quote this for a project or tender?

Yes. Send the bill of materials and we will quote the whole Omada build — controller, gateway, switching, access points and optics — with local warranty and support.
