PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

TP-Link PoE++ Injector (TL-POE170S) - 5 Years Local Warranty

The TL-POE170S is the 60 W member of the injector line: a metal-cased, single-port unit with two Gigabit RJ45 ports that adds high-power PoE to a switch port that has none. Its auto-sensing output covers 802.3af and 802.3at devices and reaches the 60 W class, which is the band a multi-radio access point or a pan-tilt-zoom camera sits in.

60 W Covers the Devices PoE+ Cannot

Standard 802.3at PoE+ tops out at 30 W at the source, which is enough for most access points and fixed cameras but not for a PTZ dome, a heated outdoor camera or a high-density Wi-Fi 6 radio. The TL-POE170S auto-determines the necessary power requirement up to a published maximum of 60 W, so a single injector covers everything from a small 802.3af sensor to a device in the 60 W class without the installer choosing a power class in advance.

Two Gigabit Ports and 100 Metres of Reach

Data comes in on a 10/100/1000 Mbps RJ45 port and leaves on a 10/100/1000 Mbps power-and-data port, so a Gigabit link stays a Gigabit link through the injector. The published network media table allows 100 m of Cat5e or Cat6 on 1000BASE-T, the full Ethernet run, which is what lets the injector live in the comms cupboard while the device it powers sits at the far end of a corridor or up on a ceiling.

Metal Casing and Wall Mounting

TP-Link publishes a metal casing for this model, which matters for a device that dissipates heat while supplying 60 W and is often installed in a rack cupboard rather than on a desk. The unit measures 155 × 70 × 42 mm, accepts 100–240 V at 50/60 Hz directly from Singapore mains, and ships with a power cord and an RJ45 cable so the switch-side patch is already in the box.

Plug-and-Play, With Nothing to Configure

The auto-sensing algorithm identifies the connected powered device and supplies only what it requests; there is no web interface, no firmware and no settings. Installation is a three-step job — patch the switch to the data-in port, run the outgoing cable to the device, apply mains — and the operating range of 0 to 45 °C suits an indoor comms cupboard. Storage is rated from -40 to 70 °C.

Ideal For

Singapore installations powering a PTZ camera, an outdoor or high-density access point, or another 60 W-class device from a switch without PoE, where replacing the switch would be disproportionate. Supplied by SourceIT with local Singapore warranty, GST invoice and project pricing on request.

Compatibility & Software Support

A PoE adapter is a passive, plug-and-play power device. It carries no firmware, needs no licence, has no web interface and does not appear in an Omada Controller as a device — there is nothing on it to configure. It can, however, power Omada access points, cameras and other powered devices that comply with the standards below, and those devices remain fully manageable from an Omada Software, Hardware or Cloud-Based Controller.

PoE Standards Supported IEEE 802.3af and 802.3at powered devices; TP-Link additionally lists 802.3bt with a footnote
Maximum Power Output 60 W, auto-determined per device
Link Speeds 10 / 100 / 1000 Mbps on both ports
Cable Distance Up to 100 m on Cat5e or better
Configuration None — plug-and-play, no web interface, no firmware
Omada Controller Not adopted; the Omada device it powers remains fully managed

Check the power budget of the device you intend to run: a powered device draws what it draws, and an injector only supplies up to its published maximum. Send us the model you are powering and we will confirm the match before you order rather than infer it from a sibling product.

Frequently Asked Questions — TL-POE170S

How much power does the TL-POE170S supply?

Up to 60 W, auto-determined according to what the connected powered device requests. It covers 802.3af and 802.3at devices as well as the 60 W class.

Is this a Gigabit or a multi-gigabit injector?

Gigabit. Both ports are 10/100/1000 Mbps. If the powered device needs a 2.5 Gbps or faster link, the 2.5G POE260S or the 10G POE380S are the matching parts.

How far can the powered device be?

Up to 100 m of Cat5e or Cat6 on a 1000BASE-T link, the standard Ethernet limit.

What is in the box?

The injector, an installation guide, a power cord and an RJ45 cable for the switch-side patch.

What warranty does SourceIT provide?

Five years local Singapore warranty, under Omada's replacement warranty tier for PoE accessories. Every injector sold by SourceIT comes with a GST invoice.

Can SourceIT quote this for a project?

Yes. Send the bill of materials and we will quote the whole Omada build — switching, access points, cameras, PoE accessories and gateways — with local warranty and support.
