PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

TP-Link PoE+ Injector (TL-POE160S) - 5 Years Local Warranty

The TL-POE160S is the workhorse of the injector line: a compact Gigabit unit supplying up to 30 W of 802.3af/at power to a single device. Data enters on one 10/100/1000 Mbps RJ45 port and leaves on another carrying power with it, so an access point, camera or IP phone can be added to a switch that has no PoE at all.

30 W of 802.3at PoE+ From One Port

The TL-POE160S complies with IEEE 802.3af and 802.3at and auto-determines the necessary power requirement up to 30 W. That is the band the bulk of indoor network hardware occupies — ceiling and wall access points, fixed IP cameras, desk phones, door controllers and sensors. Because the output is negotiated rather than fixed, a lower-power 802.3af device connected to the same injector draws only what it asks for, and no power class has to be selected during installation.

Gigabit In, Gigabit Out, 100 Metres of Run

Both RJ45 ports are 10/100/1000 Mbps, so a Gigabit link is unaffected by having the injector in the middle of it. The published network media table allows 100 m of Cat5e or Cat6 on 1000BASE-T, meaning the injector can sit beside the switch in the comms cupboard while the powered device is at the far end of the floor. That is usually the right layout: mains and the switch are in one place, and only one cable leaves it.

Compact, Wall Mountable, Nothing to Configure

The unit measures 125 × 59.4 × 36.8 mm and ships with wall mounting kits, a power cord and an RJ45 patch cable, so an installation needs nothing else from the van. A single LED indicates the state plainly — on means power is being supplied, off means it is not. There is no web interface and no firmware, which is what makes an injector a five-minute job rather than a configuration task.

A Cheaper Answer Than Replacing the Switch

For one or two PoE devices on an existing non-PoE switch, a per-device injector costs a fraction of a PoE switch and leaves the working switch in place. It also scales incrementally: add an injector when a device is added, rather than sizing a PoE budget years in advance. Once the count of powered devices grows past a handful, an Omada PoE switch becomes the tidier answer — we are happy to say where that crossover sits for your site.

Ideal For

Singapore offices, shops and homes adding a Gigabit access point, IP camera or desk phone to a switch with no PoE, and installers who want a single part that covers both 802.3af and 802.3at devices. Supplied by SourceIT with local Singapore warranty, GST invoice and project pricing on request.

Compatibility & Software Support

A PoE adapter is a passive, plug-and-play power device. It carries no firmware, needs no licence, has no web interface and does not appear in an Omada Controller as a device — there is nothing on it to configure. It can, however, power Omada access points, cameras and other powered devices that comply with the standards below, and those devices remain fully manageable from an Omada Software, Hardware or Cloud-Based Controller.

PoE Standards Supported IEEE 802.3af and 802.3at powered devices
Maximum Power Output 30 W, auto-determined per device
Link Speeds 10 / 100 / 1000 Mbps on both ports
Cable Distance Up to 100 m on Cat5e or better
Configuration None — plug-and-play, no web interface, no firmware
Omada Controller Not adopted; the Omada device it powers remains fully managed

Check the power budget of the device you intend to run: a powered device draws what it draws, and an injector only supplies up to its published maximum. Send us the model you are powering and we will confirm the match before you order rather than infer it from a sibling product.

Frequently Asked Questions — TL-POE160S

How much power does the TL-POE160S supply?

Up to 30 W, complying with IEEE 802.3af and 802.3at, auto-determined according to what the connected device requests.

What if my device needs more than 30 W?

Then it needs a higher-power injector: the TL-POE170S supplies up to 60 W, and the POE380S up to 90 W on a 10 Gbps link.

Is the link speed affected?

No. Both ports are 10/100/1000 Mbps. For a link that must run above a Gigabit, the 2.5G POE260S is the matching part.

What is in the box?

The injector, an installation guide, a power cord, an RJ45 cable and wall mounting kits.

What warranty does SourceIT provide?

Five years local Singapore warranty, under Omada's replacement warranty tier for PoE accessories. Every injector sold by SourceIT comes with a GST invoice.

Can SourceIT quote this for a project?

Yes. Send the bill of materials and we will quote the whole Omada build — switching, access points, PoE accessories and gateways — with local warranty and support.
