TP-Link Omada Multi-Gigabit VPN Router with 2× 2.5G and 8 Gigabit Ports
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
TP-Link Omada Multi-Gigabit VPN Router (ER7412-M2) - 5 Years Local Warranty
The ER7412-M2 is Omada's rack-mount multi-gigabit gateway: two 2.5G RJ45 ports, two Gigabit SFP slots and eight Gigabit RJ45 ports in a 294 mm steel chassis, backed by a million-session table. It sits above the desktop ER707-M2, which shares the same official product name but offers half the copper ports, one SFP slot and no rack mount, console port or OpenVPN headroom of this size.
Twelve Configurable Ports Including Two at 2.5 Gbps
The ER7412-M2 presents 2× 2.5G RJ45 WAN/LAN ports, 2× Gigabit SFP WAN/LAN ports and 8× Gigabit RJ45 WAN/LAN ports, plus an RJ45 console port and a USB 3.0 port. Because every data port is WAN/LAN configurable, one unit can terminate multiple broadband and fibre circuits for load balancing or failover and still serve a full set of internal segments. The 2.5G ports matter where the ISP hands over faster than Gigabit or where a 2.5G core switch sits directly behind the gateway.
2.35 Gbps NAT Throughput With a Million Concurrent Sessions
NAT throughput is 2345.71/2351.22 Mbps on static IP, 2353 Mbps on DHCP and 2336 Mbps on PPPoE — enough to pass a 2 Gbps circuit without the router becoming the constraint. The session table holds 1,000,000 concurrent sessions with 7,000 new sessions per second, which is the figure that governs how the gateway behaves under a large number of users rather than a single large transfer. Large-frame forwarding sustains 2461 Mbps in both directions.
1.1 Gbps IPsec Across 150 Tunnels, Plus WireGuard and GRE
For multi-site Singapore deployments the ER7412-M2 delivers 1125.60 Mbps IPsec with ESP-SHA1-AES256 and holds close to that across SHA256, SHA384 and SHA512 variants, over up to 150 IPsec tunnels. WireGuard runs at 771.6 Mbps across 20 tunnels, SSL VPN at 263.1 Mbps over 80 tunnels, OpenVPN at 266.2 Mbps over 121 tunnels and L2TP at 1018.4 Mbps encrypted. GRE is available in standalone mode at 1153.0 Mbps unencrypted, and SD-WAN in controller mode.
IPS, DPI and Location-Based Access Control
The gateway performs signature-based intrusion prevention at 523 Mbps and deep packet inspection at 2.2 Gbps. Access control is stateful and covers IPv4 and IPv6, source and destination IP, and location-based rules; filtering covers web groups, URLs and web security. ARP inspection with GARP, ARP scanning and IP-MAC binding, plus TCP/UDP/ICMP flood defence and TCP scan blocking, complete the defensive set.
Enterprise Routing: OSPF, RIP and Policy Routing
Beyond static routes the ER7412-M2 runs RIP and OSPF as well as policy routing, so it can participate in a routed campus rather than only sitting at the edge of a flat network. Load balancing spans intelligent load balance, application-optimised routing, link backup and online detection across the WAN interfaces. DHCP support includes a DHCPv6 PD server, DHCP option customisation, multi-IP interfaces and multi-net DHCP, with the full range of IPv6 WAN modes.
Rack-Mountable, Fanless-Class Power Draw, Console Access
The unit measures 294 × 180 × 44 mm in a steel enclosure and ships with a rack-mount kit and an RJ45 console cord, so it can be deployed in a comms rack and recovered over serial if a configuration change locks out the network path. It draws a maximum of 18.5 W with USB 3.0 connected, runs on 100–240 VAC, carries 4 kV surge protection and operates from 0 to 45 °C — a useful five degrees of headroom for a warm Singapore riser cupboard.
Ideal For
Singapore businesses, schools, hotels and managed-service providers building on Omada, and IT teams that want a gateway they can adopt, monitor and update centrally rather than box by box. Supplied by SourceIT with local Singapore warranty, GST invoice and project pricing on request.

Frequently Asked Questions — ER7412-M2
Does the ER7412-M2 need an Omada Controller?
No. The ER7412-M2 runs standalone through its own web interface. Adopting it into an Omada Software, Hardware or Cloud-Based Controller is what unlocks central configuration, monitoring, firmware management and cloud/app access across every Omada device on site — at no licence cost.
What warranty does SourceIT provide?
Five years local Singapore warranty. Every ER7412-M2 sold by SourceIT comes with a GST invoice.
Is stock held locally?
SourceIT holds fast-moving Omada lines in Singapore. Anything not in local stock is brought in on indent — ask us for the current lead time before committing to a project date.
Can SourceIT quote this for a project or tender?
Yes. Send the bill of materials and we will quote the whole Omada build — controller, gateway, switching, access points and optics — with local warranty and support.
