PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
TP-Link Omada 28-Port Gigabit Smart Switch with 24-Port PoE+ (SG2428P) - 5 Years Local Warranty
The SG2428P is the full-size access switch in Omada's Gigabit smart range: twenty-four PoE+ ports on a 250 W budget, four Gigabit SFP uplinks and a 56 Gbps fabric in a rack-mounted 1U chassis. It is the switch specified when a floor or a whole small site has to be served from one managed, controller-adopted unit.
Twenty-Four PoE+ Ports on a 250 W Budget
All twenty-four copper ports deliver 802.3af/at PoE+ at up to 30 W each from a shared 250 W budget - enough to power a realistic floor of Wi-Fi access points, IP phones, cameras and door controllers without a separate injector anywhere. Because Omada publishes the budget as a shared pool, the practical planning question is total device draw rather than port count, and PoE priority in the controller decides which ports are shed first if the pool is ever exhausted.
Four Gigabit SFP Slots for Uplink and Redundancy
Four Gigabit SFP slots give room for a fibre uplink to the core plus a second path for redundancy, or an aggregated pair carrying the combined access traffic. Fibre also buys distance well past the 100 m copper limit and electrical isolation between floors or buildings - the usual reason a floor switch backhauls on fibre rather than copper. Modules and patch leads are ordered separately to match the fibre type on site.
56 Gbps Fabric With 41.66 Mpps Forwarding
A 56 Gbps switching capacity and 41.66 Mpps forwarding rate cover all twenty-eight ports at full duplex simultaneously, so the switch itself never becomes the bottleneck on a busy floor. The 8K MAC address table handles an access layer carrying multiple VLANs plus the wireless clients behind attached access points, and the 4.1 Mbit packet buffer with 9 KB jumbo frame support absorbs bursty surveillance recording, backup and file-server traffic.
1U Rack Chassis With Dual Fans and an Internal PSU
The 440 x 220 x 44 mm chassis is a standard 1U rack unit with two fans and an internal 100-240 V AC supply, so there is no external brick and no shelf space consumed. Maximum draw is 289.8 W at 220 V with a full 250 W of powered devices attached. Its operating range starts at -5 °C and extends to 50 °C, which is wider than the desktop models and suits an unconditioned riser or plant room.
Central Management Through Omada SDN
Adopted into the Omada Cloud-Based, Hardware or Software Controller, the SG2428P is configured, monitored and updated alongside every other Omada device on site - one set of VLANs, one set of policies, one view of the network. PoE ports can be scheduled and power-cycled remotely from the controller, which saves a site visit when an access point or camera locks up. The switch also runs standalone through its own web interface where no controller is deployed.
Ideal For
Singapore offices, schools, hotels, warehouses and multi-tenant buildings serving a full floor of powered devices from one rack switch, and integrators standardising on Omada for single-controller management. Supplied by SourceIT with local Singapore warranty, GST invoice and project pricing on request.

Frequently Asked Questions — SG2428P
How does the SG2428P differ from the SG2428LP?
Both are 28-port Gigabit smart switches with four SFP slots. The SG2428P gives PoE+ on all twenty-four copper ports with a 250 W budget and uses two fans; the SG2428LP powers sixteen of its twenty-four copper ports with a 150 W budget and is fanless. Pick the SG2428P where the device count or per-device draw is higher.
Can all twenty-four ports draw 30 W at once?
No. Each port supports up to 30 W, but the twenty-four ports share a 250 W pool. Set PoE priority in the Omada Controller so the least critical ports are shed first if the pool is ever exhausted, and send us your device list if you want the budget worked out before you order.
Does the SG2428P need an Omada Controller?
No. It runs standalone through its own web interface. Adopting it into an Omada Software, Hardware or Cloud-Based Controller is what unlocks central configuration, monitoring, firmware management and cloud/app access across every Omada device on site.
What warranty does SourceIT provide?
Five years local Singapore warranty, with a GST invoice on every unit. Send us your bill of materials and we will quote the whole Omada build — controller, gateway, switching, access points and optics.
