The TL-SG3428X-UPS is a 24-port Gigabit L2+ managed switch that accepts a 12 V lead-acid battery alongside its mains supply, so the network segment it serves keeps running through a power cut without a separate rack UPS. Four 10G SFP+ uplinks, a fanless 128 Gbps fabric and a shallow 180 mm chassis complete the package.

Built-In UPS Function on a 12 V Lead-Acid Battery

The switch runs from 100-240 V AC and from a 12 V lead-acid battery, charging the battery while mains power is present and drawing from it when mains fails. The battery is not included, so it is specified and sourced to suit the runtime you need. Consumption is low enough to make that practical: 31.9 W on AC while charging, 24.0 W on AC without a battery, and 20.0 W running on battery alone.

Fanless and Shallow — Built for Rooms Without a Comms Cupboard

There are no fans, so the switch is silent and has no moving part to fail, and the chassis is only 180 mm deep against the 330 mm of a typical PoE switch. Combined with the battery input, that suits the places a rack UPS will not go: a reception counter, a shop back office, a clinic, a small branch or a wall-mounted cabinet where the switch simply has to keep working.

Four 10G SFP+ Uplinks and a 128 Gbps Fabric

Four 10 Gbps SFP+ slots carry up to 40 Gbps of backhaul, aggregable into one trunk or split across two upstream switches for a redundant path, and available over fibre for distance. The 128 Gbps switching capacity covers all 28 ports at full duplex and a 95.23 Mpps forwarding rate holds line rate at minimum frame sizes. A 12 Mbit packet buffer, 9 KB jumbo frames and a 16 K MAC address table handle busy, heavily segmented traffic.

L3 Routing With 128 Interfaces and DHCP Services

The switch carries 128 IPv4/IPv6 interfaces, 48 static routes and 128 static ARP entries, with Proxy ARP, Gratuitous ARP, a DHCP Server, DHCP Relay for interfaces and VLANs, and DHCP L2 Relay. A branch site can therefore address and route its own VLANs locally — which matters particularly here, since on battery power the upstream link may well be the thing that is down.

Resilient Layer 2 and a Full Security Stack

Link Aggregation supports static and 802.3ad LACP up to 8 groups of 8 ports; Spanning Tree covers STP, RSTP and MSTP; loopback detection runs port-based or VLAN-based. Security spans IP-MAC-Port and IPv6-MAC-Port Binding at 512 entries each, DHCP and DHCPv6 Snooping, ARP Inspection, ND Detection, DoS Defend, Port Security to 64 MACs per port, Storm Control, Port Isolation and 802.1X with RADIUS, MAB and Guest VLAN. ACLs cover time-based, MAC, IP, combined, packet-content and IPv6 rules.

Managed Centrally Through Omada SDN

Adopted into an Omada Controller, the switch is configured and monitored alongside your gateways and access points, with automatic device discovery, batch configuration, batch firmware upgrading, intelligent network monitoring, abnormal event warnings, unified configuration and reboot scheduling. SNMP v1/v2c/v3 with trap and inform, RMON groups 1, 2, 3 and 9, LLDP/LLDP-MED, CPU monitoring, cable diagnostics and system logging cover integration with existing NMS tooling.
