PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

TP-Link JetStream 24-Port 10/100Mbps + 4-Port Gigabit Smart Switch with 24-Port PoE+ (TL-SL2428P) - 5 Years Local Warranty

The TL-SL2428P is a 28-port JetStream smart switch built for IP surveillance and dense PoE deployments: 24 Fast Ethernet PoE+ ports on a 250 W budget, four Gigabit uplinks and two combo SFP slots, in a 1U rackmount chassis. Where cameras and phones only need 100 Mbps each, it delivers far more powered ports per rack unit — and per dollar — than a Gigabit equivalent.

24 PoE+ Ports on a 250 W Budget for Cameras, APs and Phones

Every one of the 24 Fast Ethernet ports is 802.3at/802.3af compliant, so any port can power a camera, an access point, a door controller or a desk phone without a separate injector. The 250 W system budget is the figure that matters in planning: it comfortably carries a full complement of 802.3af cameras, or a mixed load of 802.3at devices where not every port draws maximum power simultaneously. Uplink and SFP ports are data-only, so the entire budget is reserved for the access ports.

Four Gigabit Uplinks and Two Combo SFP Slots

Four 10/100/1000 Mbps RJ45 ports handle backhaul to the core, an NVR or a server, and two of them are combo Gigabit SFP slots for fibre where distance or electrical isolation is required. Twenty-four Fast Ethernet access ports generate at most 2.4 Gbps of aggregate demand, so four Gigabit uplinks give genuine headroom rather than a token escape route — enough to trunk two links to the core and still keep a dedicated Gigabit path to recording storage.

Full Smart-Switch Layer 2 Feature Set

This is a managed switch, not a PoE injector with lights. 802.1Q tag VLAN supports up to 4K VLAN groups, with MAC VLAN and protocol VLAN alongside it, so cameras, staff traffic and voice stay separated on shared cabling. Link aggregation scales to eight groups of eight ports, and the full spanning tree family — 802.1D STP, 802.1w RSTP and 802.1s MSTP — keeps a meshed or accidentally looped topology stable. Port mirroring supports ingress, egress and CPU capture for troubleshooting.

802.1X, DHCP Snooping and DoS Defend for Edge Security

Port-based and MAC-based 802.1X authentication gates who may connect at the edge, which matters when ports sit in public corridors and car parks. IP/IPv6-MAC binding and DHCP snooping block rogue DHCP servers and address spoofing, static, dynamic and permanent port security limits which devices a port will learn, and DoS Defend absorbs common flood patterns. IPv6 runs dual stack with MLD snooping, neighbour discovery and a DHCPv6 client, so the switch is ready for a dual-stack network.

Eight-Queue QoS and Two-Fan Rackmount Build

802.1p CoS and DSCP priority map traffic into eight queues with strict priority or weighted round robin scheduling, so voice and camera streams are not delayed behind bulk file transfers. Management is through a web GUI or CLI with SNMP v1/v2c/v3, and dual image plus dual configuration means a firmware upgrade can be rolled back without a site visit. The 440 × 180 × 44 mm steel chassis is rack mountable with two cooling fans and a physical security lock point.

Ideal For

Singapore integrators and IT teams deploying IP CCTV, building access control or VoIP across a floor or a campus block, where port count and PoE budget matter more than per-port Gigabit speed. Supplied by SourceIT with local Singapore warranty, GST invoice and project pricing on request.

Compatibility & Software Support

The TL-SL2428P is a standalone JetStream smart switch. TP-Link's product page for this model does not list Omada SDN Controller adoption, Omada App management or Omada cloud access — it is configured and monitored directly, through its own web GUI, CLI or SNMP. If central Omada controller management is a requirement, ask SourceIT to quote an Omada-managed switch instead.

Frequently Asked Questions — TL-SL2428P

How many cameras will the 250 W PoE budget actually run?

It depends on the cameras. A typical fixed-dome 802.3af camera draws well under 10 W, so a full 24 ports is realistic. PTZ domes, heaters and illuminators draw far more and are usually 802.3at. Send SourceIT the camera model list and we will work out the real load before you order.

Are the access ports Gigabit?

No. The 24 PoE+ access ports are 10/100 Mbps. The four uplink ports, two of which are combo SFP, are 10/100/1000 Mbps. If your edge devices need Gigabit, ask us about the Gigabit-access alternatives in the Omada range.

Can this switch be adopted into an Omada Controller?

TP-Link's page for the TL-SL2428P does not list Omada SDN Controller support. It is managed standalone via its web GUI, CLI or SNMP. Ask SourceIT which current models are controller-managed if that is a requirement.

What warranty does SourceIT provide?

Five years local Singapore warranty, under TP-Link's Omada replacement warranty policy. Every unit sold by SourceIT comes with a GST invoice.

Is stock held locally?

SourceIT holds fast-moving Omada lines in Singapore. Anything not in local stock is brought in on indent — ask us for the current lead time before committing to a project date.
