PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
TP-Link JetStream 16-Port Gigabit Smart Switch with 2 SFP Slots (TL-SG2218) - 5 Years Local Warranty
The TL-SG2218 is the non-PoE JetStream smart switch for sites that need managed ports rather than powered ones: sixteen Gigabit copper ports, two Gigabit SFP slots for fibre uplink, and a fanless rack-mountable chassis drawing a maximum of 12.3 W. It is configured standalone or adopted into an Omada Controller.
Sixteen Managed Gigabit Ports Without PoE
All sixteen RJ45 ports run at 10/100/1000 Mbps with full smart-switch management behind them. Leaving PoE out is a deliberate choice, not a limitation: where the powered devices are already served by another switch or by injectors, paying for a PoE power supply that will never be used adds cost and heat for nothing. For desktops, printers, servers, NVRs and uplinks, this is the switch that does the job.
Two Gigabit SFP Slots for Fibre Uplink
Two Gigabit SFP slots carry backhaul to the core or aggregation layer over fibre, which buys distance past the 100 m copper limit and electrical isolation between floors or buildings. The pair can also be aggregated or used as a primary-and-standby path depending on how the upstream switch is configured. Modules and fibre patch leads are ordered separately to match the run.
12.3 W Maximum Draw and No Fan
A maximum power consumption of 12.3 W across sixteen ports is remarkably low - about the draw of a desk lamp - which is what allows the 440 x 180 x 44 mm rack chassis to be cooled without a fan. There is nothing to hear and no moving part to fail, so the switch can be racked in occupied space or left in an unventilated cabinet without becoming a heat problem. Power is internal at 100-240 V AC, 50/60 Hz.
36 Gbps Fabric With 26.8 Mpps Forwarding
A 36 Gbps switching capacity and 26.8 Mpps forwarding rate account for all eighteen ports running full duplex at once, so the fabric itself never oversubscribes however the floor is patched. The 8K MAC address table suits an access layer carrying several VLANs, and 9 KB jumbo frame support handles the large transfers that file servers, NAS units and backup jobs generate.
Managed Standalone or Through an Omada Controller
The TL-SG2218 can be configured on its own through its web interface, or adopted into an Omada Software, Hardware or Cloud-Based Controller so it is configured, monitored and firmware-updated alongside every other Omada device on site - one set of VLANs, one set of policies, one view of the network. That keeps a non-PoE switch fully inside the same management workflow as the PoE models around it.
Ideal For
Singapore offices, server rooms and back-of-house areas that need sixteen managed Gigabit ports and a fibre uplink without paying for PoE, and integrators mixing PoE and non-PoE switches under one Omada Controller. Supplied by SourceIT with local Singapore warranty, GST invoice and project pricing on request.

Frequently Asked Questions — TL-SG2218
Does the TL-SG2218 supply PoE?
No. This model has no PoE on any port — that is why its maximum draw is only 12.3 W. If you need powered ports, the SG2016P (8 PoE+ ports, 120 W) or SG2218P (16 PoE+ ports, 150 W) are the equivalents to look at.
Is there a newer version of this switch?
Yes. TP-Link lists the SG2218 as the newer version of the TL-SG2218. Ask SourceIT which generation is currently in stock and we will advise on the right one for your project.
Are SFP modules included?
No. The two Gigabit SFP slots are supplied empty. SourceIT can quote TP-Link SFP optics and fibre patch leads to match the distance and fibre type of your run.
What warranty does SourceIT provide?
Five years local Singapore warranty, with a GST invoice on every unit. Send us your bill of materials and we will quote the whole Omada build — controller, gateway, switching, access points and optics.
