Deep packet inspection identifies traffic by application rather than by port number, and the gateway then acts on that identification. Application-based ACLs let you permit or block named services, content filtering and ad blocking apply policy at the web layer, and one-click Auto QoS prioritises latency-sensitive traffic without hand-building queue rules. The practical result for an administrator is that shaping voice and video, or stopping a category of traffic, becomes a policy decision in the Omada interface instead of a port-and-protocol exercise.

Bluetooth Setup and a 2.51-Inch Touchscreen for On-Site Work

Commissioning starts over Bluetooth from the Omada app, which discovers the gateway and then batch-adopts the Omada devices connected behind it, so a new site can be brought up without a console cable or a laptop on the LAN. Once running, a 2.51-inch colour touchscreen on the unit itself shows status and supports on-device troubleshooting — useful when the network is the thing that is broken and the web UI is unreachable.
