Outdoor installations fail on details, and this is where the EAP610-Outdoor differs from its siblings. The package contains the access point, a 48V/0.5A passive PoE adapter, a power cord, pole and wall mounting kits, waterproof kits and a waterproof antenna — not just the unit and a guide. On a site where the switch is indoors and the AP is on a pole thirty metres away, having the injector and the sealing hardware supplied removes a procurement step and a site delay.

The enclosure is IP67 rated: fully dust-tight and able to withstand temporary immersion. Operating temperature runs from -30 to 70 °C and humidity tolerance is 10-90% non-condensing, so sustained heat, monsoon rain and permanently high humidity are within specification. The body measures 280.4 x 106.5 x 56.8 mm before antenna and mounting kit, and mounts to either a pole or a wall with the supplied kits.

Omada Mesh Where Trenching Is Not an Option

The single most useful outdoor feature is Omada Mesh. Running a cable to the far corner of a car park or across a courtyard often means trenching, permits and cost; a mesh node instead takes its uplink wirelessly from a wired neighbour and extends coverage from there. Seamless roaming, band steering, load balancing and airtime fairness operate across wired and mesh nodes alike, so the outdoor area behaves as part of one network rather than a separate island.

WPA3, Captive Portal and Central Management

Security includes WPA3-Personal and WPA3-Enterprise, WPA2, 802.1X, captive portal authentication, MAC address filtering, client isolation, SSID-to-VLAN mapping and rogue AP detection. Adopted into an Omada Controller — Cloud-Based, OC300, OC200 or Software — it is configured, monitored and firmware-updated with the rest of the estate, with L3 management, multi-site management and Zero-Touch Provisioning available for remote sites.
