The EAP230-Wall is the compact member of Omada's AC1200 wall-plate range: an 86.8 mm square faceplate carrying dual-band Wi-Fi, a Gigabit uplink and one Gigabit downlink port. It fits a standard back box in a hotel room, dormitory or serviced apartment, giving each room its own access point and a wired port without a second cable run or a visible ceiling unit.

The EAP230-Wall measures 86.8 x 86.8 x 30.2 mm, so it sits in the same aperture as an ordinary socket plate and stays flush with the wall. Inside are two dual-band antennas — 2x 4 dBi on 2.4 GHz and 2x 3.6 dBi on 5 GHz — driving 867 Mbps on 5 GHz and 300 Mbps on 2.4 GHz. Omada rates it for 25 m² (300 ft²) and 200+ concurrent clients, which matches the enclosed single-room spaces this form factor is designed for.

One Wired Downlink Port Where the Guest Needs It

A 10/100/1000 Mbps uplink port carries data and PoE power in, and a 10/100/1000 Mbps downlink port on the faceplate serves a wired device in the room — typically the in-room TV, an IP phone or a desk PC. Local LAN port VLAN support means that wired port can sit on a different VLAN from the guest SSID, so the entertainment system and the guest network stay separated on the same cable.

MU-MIMO, Band Steering and Beamforming on 7 W

Maximum power consumption is 7 W, so a 24-port 802.3af switch will comfortably feed a full floor of rooms. Despite the low draw the EAP230-Wall supports MU-MIMO for simultaneous multi-client service, band steering to push dual-band devices onto 5 GHz, beamforming, load balancing and rate limiting. A combined LED/Wi-Fi button on the plate lets housekeeping or the guest toggle the radio and indicator without opening a management interface.

16 SSIDs, Captive Portal and Rogue AP Detection

The unit supports 16 SSIDs (up to eight per band) with SSID-to-VLAN mapping, so guest, staff and IoT networks are separated at the faceplate. Captive portal authentication handles guest onboarding, client isolation keeps guests from seeing each other, and MAC address filtering, 802.1X and rogue AP detection cover the rest. WEP, WPA/WPA2-PSK and WPA/WPA2-Enterprise encryption are all available.

Managed Centrally Under Omada SDN

Adopt the EAP230-Wall into an Omada Cloud-Based Controller, OC300, OC200 or the Omada Software Controller and an entire property is configured, monitored and updated as one network. Zero-touch provisioning through the Cloud-Based Controller allows a replacement unit to be shipped to site and adopted remotely — useful when the nearest engineer is not in the building. L3 and multi-site management, email alerts, SNMP v1/v2c, syslog, SSH and the Omada app are all supported.
