PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
TP-Link Omada 8-Port Gigabit Smart Switch (SG2008) - 5 Years Local Warranty
The SG2008 is Omada's eight-port fanless smart switch for the edge of a managed network. All eight Gigabit ports are software-managed, one of them doubles as a PD port so the switch can draw its own power over Ethernet, and the whole unit is adopted and configured from an Omada Controller alongside your gateways and access points.
Eight Managed Gigabit Ports in a Fanless Desktop Chassis
Eight 10/100/1000 Mbps RJ45 ports with auto-negotiation and Auto MDI/MDIX give a small office, meeting room or IDF closet a full set of managed links without the noise or depth of a rack switch. The chassis measures 209 x 126 x 26 mm, mounts on a desktop or a wall, and carries a physical security lock point. With no fan there is nothing to fail and nothing to hear, which makes it practical to place the switch in the room it serves rather than hiding it away.
Powered by an Adapter or Straight From a PoE Source
One of the eight ports is a PD port, so the SG2008 can take its power from an upstream 802.3af/at injector or PoE switch instead of an outlet. That matters where the switch has to sit in a ceiling void, a display enclosure or a reception counter with no spare socket - a single Ethernet run carries both the uplink and the power. Where mains is available, the supplied 12 VDC/1 A external adapter is used instead. Maximum draw is 6.4 W.
Full Layer 2+ Feature Set: Static Routing, VLANs and ACLs
Despite the size, the software is the full Omada smart-switch stack. It carries 32 IPv4/IPv6 interfaces and 32 static routes, a DHCP server and DHCP relay, static and proxy ARP, link aggregation, spanning tree, loopback detection and 802.1ab LLDP/LLDP-MED. VLAN support runs to 4K 802.1Q groups plus MAC, protocol and voice VLANs, and the ACL engine holds up to 230 entries with time-based rules and permit, deny, mirror, redirect, rate-limit and QoS-remark actions.
Hardened Access Security for Untrusted Edges
Because an eight-port switch usually lives where people and unmanaged devices are, the security set is deliberately deep: IP-MAC-Port binding, 802.1X port- and MAC-based authentication with RADIUS, guest VLAN and MAB, DHCP and DHCPv6 snooping, ARP inspection and ND detection, IP Source Guard with 253 entries, DoS defend, port isolation, and port security for up to 64 MAC addresses per port. Management itself is protected with HTTPS over TLS 1.2 and SSH v1/v2.
Managed Centrally Through Omada SDN
The SG2008 is adopted by the Omada Cloud-Based, Hardware or Software Controller, which brings automatic device discovery, batch configuration, batch firmware upgrading, intelligent network monitoring, abnormal event warnings and reboot scheduling. Zero-Touch Provisioning through the Cloud-Based Controller means a unit can be shipped to a branch, plugged in and configured remotely. It also runs perfectly well standalone through its own web GUI, CLI over Telnet, or SNMP v1/v2c/v3 with RMON.
Ideal For
Singapore offices, retail outlets, clinics and branch sites adding a managed edge switch to an Omada network, and IT teams that want every switch in the estate adopted, monitored and updated from one controller. Supplied by SourceIT with local Singapore warranty, GST invoice and project pricing on request.

Frequently Asked Questions — SG2008
Does the SG2008 need an Omada Controller?
No. It runs standalone through its own web interface, CLI or SNMP. Adopting it into an Omada Software, Hardware or Cloud-Based Controller is what unlocks central configuration, monitoring, firmware management and cloud/app access across every Omada device on site.
Can the switch itself be powered over Ethernet?
Yes. One of the eight ports is a PD port, so the SG2008 can obtain power from an upstream PoE source instead of the 12 VDC adapter. Note that the SG2008 does not supply PoE to devices connected to it — for that you need a PoE model such as the SG2016P or SG2210MP.
What warranty does SourceIT provide?
Five years local Singapore warranty. Every SG2008 sold by SourceIT comes with a GST invoice.
Can SourceIT quote this for a project or tender?
Yes. Send the bill of materials and we will quote the whole Omada build — controller, gateway, switching, access points and optics — with local warranty and support.
