PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

TP-Link Omada 8-Port 10G Desktop/Rackmount Switch (DS1008X) - 5 Years Local Warranty

The DS1008X puts eight 10G multi-gigabit ports in a half-width 1U chassis with no configuration at all. Every port auto-negotiates across 100 Mbps, 1G, 2.5G, 5G and 10G, so NAS units, workstations, 10G uplinks and ordinary Gigabit gear can share one switch without anyone choosing a speed. Rackmount kit and rubber feet are both in the box.

Eight Ports, Five Speeds, No Setup

Each of the eight RJ45 ports runs at 100 Mbps, 1 Gbps, 2.5 Gbps, 5 Gbps or 10 Gbps with auto-negotiation and auto-MDI/MDIX. That five-speed range is what makes multi-gigabit useful in practice: a 2.5G Wi-Fi 7 access point, a 5G workstation NIC and a 10G NAS all connect at their own rate on the same switch, and a Cat 5e run that cannot carry 10G will fall back to 2.5G or 5G rather than failing outright.

160 Gbps of Non-Blocking Capacity

Switching capacity is 160 Gbps with a 119.0 Mpps forwarding rate — full duplex 10G on all eight ports at once, with nothing shared. A 32 K MAC address table, 2 Mb packet buffer and 10 KB jumbo frame support sit behind it, and store-and-forward switching keeps corrupt frames off the wire. For file transfers between a NAS and several 10G clients this is the difference between sustained throughput and a switch that throttles under concurrency.

802.3x Flow Control and 802.1p/DSCP QoS Built In

Although unmanaged, the DS1008X applies 802.3x flow control and honours 802.1p and DSCP priority markings set by the devices attached to it. In a small studio or office where video, backup traffic and ordinary work share the same eight ports, that means latency-sensitive traffic tagged upstream is still treated correctly, without anyone configuring the switch.

Rack or Desk, With Mains Power Built In

The 294 x 180 x 44 mm chassis is half-rack width and 1U high, and the box includes both a rackmount kit and rubber feet, so the same unit works on a shelf or in a cabinet. Power comes from an internal 100-240 VAC supply via a power cord — there is no external brick to lose. Maximum consumption is 31.2 W, with one fan and per-port link/act indicators built into each RJ45 jack.

Ideal For

Singapore studios, post-production suites, small server rooms and offices moving a NAS, a few workstations and a multi-gigabit access point to 10G without adding a managed switch to administer. Supplied by SourceIT with local Singapore warranty, GST invoice and project pricing on request.

TP-Link lists the DS1008X as End of Sale. SourceIT still supplies it while stock lasts — ask us to confirm current availability and the recommended replacement before committing to a project date.

Compatibility & Software Support

The DS1008X is an unmanaged switch. It has no web interface, no CLI and no configuration of any kind — it forwards traffic as soon as it is powered on. TP-Link states plainly in its own documentation that Omada Unmanaged Switches do not support Omada SDN central management.

Omada SDN Controller Not supported — the DS1008X cannot be adopted into an Omada Software, Hardware or Cloud-Based Controller
Omada App Not supported
Omada Cloud Access Not supported
Web / CLI Management None — the switch is unmanaged by design
Works Alongside Omada Yes — it will carry traffic for Omada access points, gateways and cameras perfectly well; those devices remain managed by the controller themselves, and the switch simply does not appear in it
Cabling 10G over Cat 6a is the safe specification for long runs. On Cat 5e or shorter Cat 6 runs the ports will negotiate 2.5G or 5G instead.

If central management of the switch matters, the Omada managed range — SG3428X and above — is the alternative.

Frequently Asked Questions — DS1008X

Can the DS1008X be managed from an Omada Controller?

No. It is an unmanaged switch and TP-Link states that Omada Unmanaged Switches do not support Omada SDN central management. It will still carry traffic for your Omada access points and gateways, which stay managed themselves.

Does it need Cat 6a cable?

For reliable 10G over a full-length run, yes. The ports also negotiate 5G and 2.5G, so existing Cat 5e or short Cat 6 runs will still connect — at a lower but still multi-gigabit rate — rather than dropping to 1G.

Does it supply PoE?

No. The DS1008X has no PoE. For a PoE+ switch in the Omada unmanaged range, the DS1018GMP offers 16 PoE+ ports with a 250 W budget.

What warranty does SourceIT provide?

Five years local Singapore warranty. Every DS1008X sold by SourceIT comes with a GST invoice.

Is stock held locally?

TP-Link has marked the DS1008X End of Sale, so availability is limited. Ask SourceIT to confirm current stock and the recommended replacement before committing to a project date.
