The ES206GP is the compact member of Omada's Easy Managed PoE+ range: six Gigabit ports with four 802.3af/at PoE+, a 65 W budget and a 12 Gbps fabric, in a 158 mm metal chassis. It trades the ES210GP's eight PoE ports and SFP combo uplink for a smaller footprint and lower cost, while keeping the same VLAN, QoS, loop prevention and Omada controller management. This is the V2 hardware revision.

Four PoE+ Ports and a 65 W Budget in a 158 mm Chassis

Four of the six Gigabit RJ45 ports supply 802.3af/at PoE+ at up to 30 W each from a 65 W shared budget, with the remaining two ports serving non-PoE devices or the uplink. At 158 x 101 x 25 mm the unit fits where a ten-port switch will not - a shop counter, a reception desk, a small riser - and the fanless metal casing means no noise and no filter to clean. 250 m Extend Mode for Cameras Past the Cabling Limit

Extend Mode lifts PoE transmission distance to 250 m, two and a half times standard Ethernet reach, so a camera at the far end of a car park or warehouse can be powered and cabled from the same small switch. Omada is candid about the cost: bandwidth on an extended port falls to 10 Mbps, which the specification frames as suited to sub-4K camera video. Applied per port to the genuinely awkward runs, it removes the need for a mid-span enclosure, power feed and the maintenance that comes with them.

PoE Auto Recovery, Remote Reboot and Cable Diagnostics

PoE Auto Recovery, available in standalone mode, monitors powered devices and automatically power-cycles a port whose camera has stopped responding, resolving the most common unattended failure without anyone attending. Under an Omada controller you can also trigger a camera reboot manually from the interface. Cable diagnostics test a suspect run in place, telling you whether a fault is in the cable or the endpoint before you dispatch. ONVIF support, available in controller mode, lets the switch work within a standards-based video management workflow.

12 Gbps Fabric With VLANs, Eight-Queue QoS and Port Isolation

The switch provides 12 Gbps of switching capacity and an 8.93 Mpps forwarding rate - line rate for six Gigabit ports - with an 8K MAC address table, 4 Mbit packet buffer and 15 KB jumbo frames. 802.1Q tag VLAN supports up to 32 groups across 4K VIDs, and port isolation separates camera traffic from general traffic without a full VLAN design. QoS classifies port-based, by 802.1p or by DSCP into eight weighted round robin queues, with port-based bandwidth control and storm control to cap any one device.

Automatic Loop Prevention and IGMP Snooping Keep the Segment Stable

Automatic loopback detection identifies a port that has been patched back into the switch and shuts it down before the resulting broadcast storm takes out the segment - the single most common self-inflicted small-network outage. IGMP snooping v1/v2/v3 with fast leave confines multicast video to the ports that actually requested it, instead of flooding all six. 802.3x flow control, static link aggregation across up to two groups of four ports, port mirroring and 802.1ab LLDP complete a Layer 2 feature set well beyond what the port count suggests.

Configure the ES206GP locally through its web GUI, or adopt it into an Omada Cloud-Based, Hardware or Software Controller running version 6.1.0 or later for centralised management from a browser or the Omada app. Controller mode brings Zero-Touch Provisioning, automatic device discovery, batch configuration and unified batch firmware upgrading, so a switch can be shipped to a site and provisioned without a technician on the ground.
