The TL-SG105PE packs four 802.3af/at PoE+ ports and a 65 W power budget into a fanless 100 mm switch that also gives you VLANs, QoS and IGMP snooping. Ports 1-4 are 802.3af and 802.3at compliant with a total PoE power budget of 65 W — enough for four 802.3af devices, or two 802.3at PoE+ access points plus a pair of cameras, depending on how you allocate it. Port 5 is the uplink. Power comes from an external 53.5 V DC/1.3 A adapter, and the switch itself draws 4.5 W with no powered devices attached, rising to 75.2 W with a full 65 W load.

Extend Mode and PoE Auto Recovery for Cameras at the Far End

Two features on this model matter specifically to surveillance installs. Extend Mode pushes PoE delivery beyond the usual 100 m limit at reduced speed, which rescues the camera that sits just too far down the corridor. PoE Auto Recovery watches powered devices and power-cycles a port whose device has stopped responding, so a hung camera or access point restarts itself instead of waiting for someone to drive to site and unplug it.

VLANs, QoS and Multicast Control on the Same Box

The Easy Smart feature set is full: up to 32 simultaneous VLANs from the 4K VLAN ID range in MTU, port-based and 802.1Q tag-based modes; port-based, 802.1p and DSCP QoS across four queues with rate limiting and storm control; and IGMP Snooping v1/v2/v3 to keep camera multicast off ports that did not request it. Static link aggregation, port mirroring, cable diagnostics and loop prevention are all present, managed from a web browser or the Easy Smart Configuration Utility.

Fanless, Compact and Documented for Small Spaces

At 99.8 x 98 x 25 mm the TL-SG105PE is the same footprint as the non-PoE TL-SG105E and is completely fanless, so it can sit in a reception cupboard or a shallow wall box without noise. Maximum heat dissipation is 15.4 BTU/h with no powered devices and 256.3 BTU/h at full PoE load — worth allowing for if it is going into an enclosed cabinet. Switching capacity is 10 Gbps with a 7.44 Mpps forwarding rate, a 2K MAC table, 1.5 Mb of buffer and 16 KB jumbo frames.
