PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
TP-Link Omada 5-Port Gigabit Easy Managed Switch (ES205G) - 5 Years Local Warranty
The ES205G puts genuine managed features — VLANs, eight-queue QoS, IGMP snooping, loop prevention and link aggregation — into a five-port fanless box that runs from a 5 V adapter. It is the non-PoE member of the Easy Managed pair, and it can be adopted into an Omada Controller so a small remote site is managed from the same console as the head office.
Five Gigabit Ports, No Fan, No Noise
All five ports are 10/100/1000 Mbps with auto-negotiation and Auto MDI/MDIX, so anything plugs into anything and links at its own speed. There is no fan, which makes the switch silent enough for a reception desk, a meeting room or a consulting room rather than only a comms cupboard. At 100 x 98 x 25 mm it sits on a desk or mounts to a wall, and a physical security lock slot lets it be secured where it is exposed.
VLANs and QoS on a Five-Port Switch
The ES205G carries 802.1Q tag VLAN with up to 32 VLAN groups across 4K VIDs, alongside MTU VLAN and port-based VLAN — enough to keep guest Wi-Fi, a payment terminal and staff traffic apart on a single switch at a small site. QoS classifies port-based, by 802.1p or by DSCP into eight priority queues with weighted round robin and configurable queue weights, so a voice or video stream is not held behind a bulk file copy. Port-based rate limiting and storm control complete the picture.
Loop Prevention, Mirroring and Aggregation
Automatic loop prevention detects and shuts down a port that has been patched back into the switch before the broadcast storm spreads — the single most common cause of an office network falling over. Static link aggregation lets two ports be bonded to a server or upstream switch. Port mirroring supports one-to-one and many-to-one in ingress, egress or both directions, which is what makes a problem on a small site diagnosable without a site visit. IGMP snooping v1/v2/v3 with fast leave keeps multicast off ports that did not ask for it.
Adopt It Into Omada, or Run It Alone
The switch works standalone through its own web GUI, with DHCP client and cable diagnostics available immediately. Adopted into an Omada Cloud-Based, Hardware or Software Controller, it joins the rest of the network under one set of policies. TP-Link is specific that automatic device discovery, batch configuration, batch firmware upgrading and unified configuration require the controller, that the Omada app and cloud access require one too, and that Zero-Touch Provisioning requires the Cloud-Based Controller in particular.
Under a Watt of Adapter Voltage to Worry About
Power comes from an external DC adapter supplying 5 V at 0.6 A — a genuinely small supply, reflecting a switch with no PoE load to carry. Surge protection is rated at ±6 kV. TP-Link publishes an operating range of 0 to 40 degrees Celsius at 10 to 90 percent relative humidity, non-condensing, and certifies the unit to FCC, CE and RoHS. Store-and-forward switching is used throughout.
Ideal For
Singapore branch offices, retail units, clinics and meeting rooms that need VLAN separation and QoS on a handful of ports, and IT teams who want those small switches visible in the same Omada console as everything else. Supplied by SourceIT with local Singapore warranty, GST invoice and project pricing on request.

TP-Link's published notes, reproduced
| Controller-dependent features | "These functions require the use of the Omada SDN Controller. Zero-Touch Provisioning requires the use of the Omada Cloud-Based Controller." |
| QoS | "QoS is supported under Standalone Mode." |
TP-Link publishes no MTBF figure, no maximum power consumption and no heat dissipation row for this model, so none is claimed here.
Compatibility & Software Support
The ES205G is part of the Omada ecosystem: gateways, switches and access points are managed together from one controller, under one set of policies, with one view of the network. The cloud, app and batch features listed below require the device to be adopted into an Omada Controller.
| Omada SDN Controller | Supported — adopt and manage centrally from the Omada Software Controller, Hardware Controller or Cloud-Based Controller |
| Omada App | Supported — requires an Omada Hardware, Cloud-Based or Software Controller |
| Cloud Access | Supported — requires an Omada Hardware, Cloud-Based or Software Controller |
| Zero-Touch Provisioning | Supported — requires the Omada Cloud-Based Controller specifically |
| Standalone Mode | Supported — configurable on its own via its web GUI, with QoS available |
| Power over Ethernet | Not supported on this model — the ES205GP is the PoE+ version |

Frequently Asked Questions — ES205G
What is the difference between the ES205G and the ES205GP?
PoE. Both have five Gigabit ports and the same switching, VLAN, QoS and IGMP feature set. The ES205GP adds 802.3af/at PoE+ on ports 1 to 4 with a 65 W budget and uses a 53.5 V adapter; the ES205G has no PoE and runs from a 5 V adapter.
Does it need an Omada Controller?
No. It runs standalone through its own web GUI, where QoS, VLANs and cable diagnostics are all available. Adopting it into an Omada Software, Hardware or Cloud-Based Controller unlocks automatic device discovery, batch configuration, batch firmware upgrading, cloud and app access — Zero-Touch Provisioning needs the Cloud-Based Controller specifically.
Is it "Easy Managed" or fully managed?
TP-Link classifies it as Easy Managed. It carries VLANs, QoS, IGMP snooping, mirroring, aggregation and loop prevention, but not the L3 routing, ACL and advanced security feature set of the Omada managed switch range.
Can it power an access point?
No. There is no PoE on this model. Use the ES205GP, or an Omada PoE injector.
What warranty does SourceIT provide?
Five years local Singapore warranty. Every ES205G sold by SourceIT comes with a GST invoice.
