TP-Link Omada 28-Port Gigabit Easy Managed Switch with 24-Port PoE+ 250W
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
TP-Link Omada 28-Port Gigabit Easy Managed Switch with 24-Port PoE+ (ES228GP) - 5 Years Local Warranty
The ES228GP is the mainstream 28-port model in Omada's Agile Easy Managed gigabit PoE line: 24 PoE+ ports, two further gigabit RJ45 ports and two SFP slots in a shallow rackmount chassis. It sits directly below the ES228GMP, matching it port for port but with a 250 W rather than 384 W PoE budget — the right choice when endpoints are cameras and access points rather than high-draw PTZ hardware.
Twenty-Eight Gigabit Ports With 250 W of PoE+ Across Twenty-Four of Them
Twenty-four 802.3af/at compliant PoE+ ports each deliver up to 30 W from a 250 W shared budget, alongside two further gigabit RJ45 ports and two gigabit SFP slots for uplinks. That budget comfortably runs a full complement of typical fixed-dome IP cameras, WiFi access points and IP phones, which draw well under their 30 W ceiling in practice. Where an install is dominated by high-draw PTZ or heated-housing cameras, the 384 W ES228GMP is the model to step up to; for everything else, 250 W is the more economical fit.
Fast PoE and Perpetual PoE Keep Cameras Up Through a Reboot
Perpetual PoE keeps power flowing to connected devices while the switch itself reboots, so a firmware update or a configuration restart does not black out a camera estate or drop every IP phone. Fast PoE goes further, restoring power within seconds of the switch being powered on rather than waiting for the full boot sequence to complete. For surveillance in particular this closes the recording gaps that would otherwise accompany every planned maintenance window, and it removes the need to schedule switch restarts around quiet hours.
Remote Camera Reboot and 250-Metre PoE Reach Cut Site Visits
Remote Camera Reboot lets you power-cycle a frozen camera from the management interface instead of dispatching someone to the pole or ceiling, and PoE Auto Recovery automates that response when a device stops replying. Extend Mode pushes PoE and data up to 250 metres (820 feet) over copper, more than double standard Ethernet's reach, so perimeter and car-park cameras need no intermediate cabinet. The documented trade-off: ports running 250-metre extend mode are downgraded to 10 Mbps, which suits a single camera stream but not general data.
56 Gbps of Switching Capacity at 41.67 Mpps
The switch fabric is rated at 56 Gbps switching capacity with a 41.67 Mpps packet forwarding rate — line rate across all 28 gigabit ports simultaneously, so a full rack of cameras streaming at once does not run into a fabric limit. An 8K MAC address table and 4 Mbit packet buffer absorb the address learning and the traffic bursts of a busy flat network, and 15 KB jumbo frame support lowers per-packet overhead on NVR writes and bulk transfers. Ports are auto-negotiating with Auto MDI/MDIX, so crossover cabling is never a concern.
Segmentation, Loop Protection and Prioritisation Configured From a Web Page
Automatic Loop Prevention detects and blocks the accidental loops that bring small networks down, while Port Isolation separates camera, guest and office traffic at the port level without a routed design. Up to 32 VLAN groups (4K VID range) are supported, with IGMP v1/v2/v3 Snooping and fast leave keeping multicast off ports that did not request it. QoS across 8 priority queues, applied port-based, by 802.1p or by DSCP with WRR scheduling, keeps video and voice ahead of bulk traffic; port mirroring and LLDP assist troubleshooting.
Rackmount Build With Surge Protection and Central Omada Management
The chassis measures 440 x 180 x 44 mm (17.3 x 7.1 x 1.7 in), a shallow 1U that fits comfortably in a wall-mounted comms cabinet, and carries a physical security lock point plus +/-6 kV surge protection on the ports — meaningful where cabling runs to outdoor cameras exposed to electrical transients. Management runs through a web GUI standalone, or centrally via the Omada Cloud-Based, Hardware or Software Controller with access from a browser or the Omada app across one site or many.
Ideal For
Singapore businesses, schools, hotels and managed-service providers building on Omada, and IT teams that want a switch they can adopt, monitor and update centrally rather than box by box. Supplied by SourceIT with local Singapore warranty, GST invoice and project pricing on request.

Compatibility & Software Support
The ES228GP is part of the Omada ecosystem: gateways, switches and access points are managed together from one controller, under one set of policies, with one view of the network. Cloud and app features listed below require the device to be adopted into an Omada Controller.
| Omada SDN Controller | Supported — adopt and manage centrally from the Omada Software Controller, Hardware Controller or Cloud-Based Controller |
| Omada App | Supported — remote management from iOS and Android |
| Omada Cloud Access | Supported — no licence fee for cloud management |
| Standalone Mode | Supported — the device can also be configured on its own via its web interface |

Frequently Asked Questions — ES228GP
Does the ES228GP need an Omada Controller?
No. The ES228GP runs standalone through its own web interface. Adopting it into an Omada Software, Hardware or Cloud-Based Controller is what unlocks central configuration, monitoring, firmware management and cloud/app access across every Omada device on site — at no licence cost.
What warranty does SourceIT provide?
Five years local Singapore warranty. Every ES228GP sold by SourceIT comes with a GST invoice.
How should I size the PoE budget?
The total PoE budget is in the Technical Specifications above, and it is a system total rather than a per-port guarantee — the ports cannot all draw their maximum at once. Add up the real draw of every powered device you intend to connect and leave headroom.
Is stock held locally?
SourceIT holds fast-moving Omada lines in Singapore. Anything not in local stock is brought in on indent — ask us for the current lead time before committing to a project date.
Can SourceIT quote this for a project or tender?
Yes. Send the bill of materials and we will quote the whole Omada build — controller, gateway, switching, access points and optics — with local warranty and support.
