PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
TP-Link Omada 20-Port Gigabit Easy Managed Switch with 16-Port PoE+ (ES220GMP) - 5 Years Local Warranty
The ES220GMP is Omada's rackmount Easy Managed workhorse: sixteen Gigabit PoE+ ports sharing a generous 250 W budget, two more Gigabit copper ports and two Gigabit SFP slots for the uplink. It runs standalone from its own web GUI or joins an Omada Controller alongside the gateways and access points, in a 1U chassis with an integral lock.
250 W Across Sixteen PoE+ Ports
Ports 1 to 16 are 802.3at PoE+ and 802.3af PoE capable, delivering up to 30 W on any single port from a 250 W system budget. That is enough headroom to run a floor of Wi-Fi 6 access points and a camera run from one rack position, rather than splitting the load across two smaller switches or scattering injectors around the ceiling. TP-Link notes that its PoE budget figures are derived from laboratory testing and that the power actually available varies with the connected devices and the installation environment.
Four Uplink Options, Copper or Fibre
Two dedicated Gigabit RJ45 ports and two Gigabit SFP slots sit alongside the powered ports, so the uplink never has to consume PoE capacity. Fibre is the practical choice where the switch sits in a remote comms cupboard, an outbuilding or a floor riser with a long run back to the core, and copper suits a short hop to an adjacent rack. Static link aggregation lets you bond ports into a single logical link where a single Gigabit uplink is not enough.
PoE Auto Recovery and 250 Metre Reach
A camera or access point that has locked up normally needs someone on site to unplug it. The ES220GMP power-cycles an unresponsive powered device automatically — TP-Link specifies that PoE Auto Recovery operates in standalone mode, while under controller mode the switch supports manual PoE recovery, so on a managed site the restart becomes a click in the Omada interface. PoE can also be pushed up to 250 m for awkward runs, with the published caveat that ports in the extended mode drop to 10 Mbps and that actual distance depends on cable quality.
Segmentation, Priority and Loop Protection
The switch carries 802.1Q tag VLAN and port-based VLAN with up to 32 VLAN groups, enough to keep cameras, guest Wi-Fi, voice and staff traffic apart on one chassis. QoS classifies traffic port-based, by 802.1p or by DSCP into eight priority queues, with bandwidth control and storm control alongside. Loop prevention shuts down a port patched back into the switch before a broadcast storm spreads, and IGMP snooping v1/v2/v3 keeps multicast on the ports that requested it. TP-Link notes that QoS and Priority Mode are supported under standalone mode.
Rack-Ready, With the Management You Choose
The ES220GMP is a 440 × 180 × 44 mm rackmountable chassis with two fans, ±6 kV surge protection and a lock included for physical security, rated for -5 °C to 50 °C operation. Standalone it offers a web GUI, DHCP client and cable diagnostics. Adopted into an Omada Cloud-Based, Hardware or Software Controller it gains automatic device discovery, batch configuration and batch firmware upgrading; Zero-Touch Provisioning specifically requires the Cloud-Based Controller.
Ideal For
Singapore offices, schools, clinics and light industrial sites deploying a floor of access points, IP cameras or door hardware from one rack position, with the option to fold the switch into an existing Omada network later. Supplied by SourceIT with local Singapore warranty, GST invoice and project pricing on request.

TP-Link's published notes, reproduced
| PoE budget | PoE budget calculations are based on laboratory testing; actual results vary by client and environment. |
| 250 m PoE transmission | "The speed of the ports that support 250m PoE transmission will be downgraded to 10 Mbps. Actual transmission distance may vary depending on the quality of the cables." |
| Controller-dependent features | Functions marked as requiring the Omada Controller need one; Zero-Touch Provisioning requires the Cloud-Based Controller. |
| PoE Auto Recovery | PoE Auto Recovery is available in standalone mode; manual PoE recovery applies in controller mode. |
| QoS | QoS and Priority Mode are supported under standalone mode. |
TP-Link publishes no MTBF figure, no maximum power consumption and no heat dissipation row for this model, so none is claimed here. The published package contents list a power adapter while the hardware table specifies a 100–240 VAC internal supply; both are reproduced as published and not reconciled here — confirm with SourceIT if the distinction matters to your installation.
Compatibility & Software Support
The ES220GMP is part of the Omada ecosystem: gateways, switches and access points are managed together from one controller, under one set of policies, with one view of the network. The cloud, app and batch features listed below require the device to be adopted into an Omada Controller.
| Omada SDN Controller | Supported — adopt and manage centrally from the Omada Software Controller, Hardware Controller or Cloud-Based Controller |
| Omada App | Supported — requires an Omada Hardware, Cloud-Based or Software Controller |
| Zero-Touch Provisioning | Supported — requires the Omada Cloud-Based Controller specifically |
| Standalone Mode | Supported — configurable on its own via its web GUI, with QoS, Priority Mode and PoE Auto Recovery available |
| SFP Modules | 2× Gigabit SFP slots. TP-Link does not publish a per-module compatibility list on this product page, so none is claimed here — send SourceIT your intended module or fibre type and we will confirm. |
| Powered Devices | Any 802.3af or 802.3at compliant PD within the 30 W per-port and 250 W total budget |

Frequently Asked Questions — ES220GMP
How many access points will 250 W run?
It depends entirely on the models. A floor of Wi-Fi 6 ceiling APs is the usual answer, but a Wi-Fi 7 AP drawing close to 30 W changes the arithmetic quickly. Send us your device list and we will size the budget properly — TP-Link is clear that published PoE budgets come from laboratory testing and that real-world power varies.
Do the two SFP slots take PoE capacity?
No. The sixteen PoE+ ports are separate from the two Gigabit RJ45 ports and two Gigabit SFP slots, so the uplink never eats into the 250 W budget.
What is the difference between Easy Managed and a full Omada managed switch?
Easy Managed covers VLAN, QoS, IGMP snooping, link aggregation, mirroring and PoE control through a web GUI or a controller. Omada's L2+ and L3 managed ranges add routing, richer security and more advanced monitoring. If you need static or dynamic routing on the switch itself, ask us about the SG3000 series instead.
Does it need an Omada Controller?
No. It runs standalone through its own web GUI. Adopting it into an Omada Software, Hardware or Cloud-Based Controller unlocks automatic device discovery, batch configuration, batch firmware upgrading and app access — Zero-Touch Provisioning needs the Cloud-Based Controller specifically.
What warranty does SourceIT provide?
Five years local Singapore warranty. Every ES220GMP sold by SourceIT comes with a GST invoice.
