PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
TP-Link Omada 16-Port 2.5G and 2-Port 10GE SFP+ L2+ Managed Switch with 8-Port PoE+ (SG3218XP-M2) - 5 Years Local Warranty
The SG3218XP-M2 is the multi-gigabit access switch for a Wi-Fi 6 or Wi-Fi 7 refresh: sixteen 2.5 Gbps copper ports, eight of them PoE+ with a 240 W budget, and two 10G SFP+ uplinks on a 120 Gbps fabric. Full L2+ software - static routing, DHCP server, 802.1X and QinQ - sits behind it in a 1U rack chassis.
Sixteen 2.5 Gbps Ports, Eight of Them PoE+
All sixteen RJ45 ports run at 2.5 Gbps over existing Cat5e or Cat6, and eight of them deliver 802.3at PoE+ at up to 30 W each from a 240 W budget. That combination is precisely what a modern access-point refresh needs: a Wi-Fi 6 or Wi-Fi 7 AP wants more than a Gigabit of wired capacity and more than 802.3af of power, and this switch supplies both from the same port. The remaining eight 2.5G ports serve NAS, workstations, cameras or non-powered devices.
A 240 W PoE+ Budget That Adds Up Honestly
240 W across eight PoE+ ports means the budget is not the constraint in normal use: eight Wi-Fi 6 APs rarely draw their full 30 W each, and the headroom covers a mix of APs, IP phones and cameras on the same switch. Maximum power consumption is 299.4 W with a full 240 W load attached and maximum heat dissipation 1021.64 BTU/h, so plan rack cooling and UPS capacity from those figures rather than from the switch's idle draw.
Two 10G SFP+ Uplinks on a 120 Gbps Fabric
Two 10G SFP+ slots take the switch back to the aggregation layer, and 120 Gbps of switching capacity at 89.28 Mpps covers all eighteen ports at line rate. A 16 K MAC address table, 12 Mbit of packet buffer and 9 KB jumbo frames handle a busy multi-VLAN access layer and the bursts that wireless clients and backup traffic create. Dual uplinks also allow a LAG or a second path to a different aggregation switch.
Static Routing, DHCP Server and 4K VLANs
Software includes 32 IPv4/IPv6 interfaces with 48 static routes, 128 static ARP entries, proxy ARP, a DHCP server and DHCP interface, VLAN and L2 relay - enough for a branch or a floor to route its own VLANs without sending every packet to the firewall. VLAN support covers 4K groups with 802.1Q tagging, 256 MAC VLAN entries, protocol VLAN, GVRP, port-based and selective QinQ, and voice VLAN for IP telephony.
Enterprise Security and Central Omada Management
Security runs to IP-MAC-Port and IPv6-MAC-Port binding at 512 entries each, DoS defend, port security, storm control, 802.1X, AAA with TACACS+, port isolation and encrypted management over HTTPS, SSL and SSH, with time-based MAC, IP, IPv6, combined and packet-content ACLs. The switch adopts into the Omada Cloud-Based, Software or Hardware Controller for automatic device discovery, batch configuration, batch firmware upgrading, intelligent network monitoring, abnormal event warnings and Zero-Touch Provisioning.
Ideal For
Singapore offices, schools, hotels and retail sites refreshing to Wi-Fi 6 or Wi-Fi 7 that need 2.5G access ports with PoE+ and 10G uplinks under central Omada management. Supplied by SourceIT with local Singapore warranty, GST invoice and project pricing on request.

Frequently Asked Questions — SG3218XP-M2
How many ports supply PoE?
Eight of the sixteen 2.5 Gbps ports supply 802.3at PoE+ at up to 30 W each, within a total budget of 240 W. The other eight 2.5G ports are data only.
Does it supply PoE++ (802.3bt)?
No. This model is 802.3at/af. For 60 W PoE++ ports, the SG3428XPP-M2 provides eight PoE++ and sixteen PoE+ ports on a 500 W budget.
Can it route between VLANs?
Yes. It supports 32 IPv4/IPv6 interfaces with 48 static routes, a DHCP server and DHCP relay, so inter-VLAN traffic can be routed locally.
What should I plan for power and cooling?
Maximum power consumption is 299.4 W and maximum heat dissipation 1021.64 BTU/h with a full 240 W PoE load, so size the circuit, UPS and rack cooling from those figures.
What warranty does SourceIT provide?
Five years local Singapore warranty. Every SG3218XP-M2 sold by SourceIT comes with a GST invoice.
Can SourceIT quote this for a project or tender?
Yes. Send the bill of materials and we will quote the whole Omada build — controller, gateway, switching, access points and optics — with local warranty and support.
