PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
TP-Link 16-Port 10/100Mbps Desktop/Rackmount Switch (TL-SF1016DS) - Local Warranty
The TL-SF1016DS gives 16 Fast Ethernet ports in a 294 mm steel chassis that racks with the supplied kit or sits on a shelf on its rubber feet. It keeps the internal 100-240VAC supply of a full rack switch - no adapter to lose - while taking up roughly two-thirds of the cabinet width, and adds a physical security lock point.
Half-Width Chassis, Full Mains Supply
Most compact switches in this class move to an external DC adapter to shrink the case. The TL-SF1016DS does not: it keeps an internal 100-240VAC 50/60Hz supply in a 294 x 180 x 44 mm chassis, so the install needs one IEC cord and nothing else. That is worth having in a shallow wall box or a half-width cabinet where there is no room for a full 440 mm unit but also nowhere tidy to hang a power brick. Rackmount ears and rubber feet are both in the box.
16 Auto-Negotiating Fast Ethernet Ports
All 16 ports are 10/100Mbps RJ45 with auto-negotiation and Auto MDI/MDIX, so speed, duplex and cable polarity are all settled by the hardware and neither end needs configuration. It is a straightforward fit for the low-bandwidth device estates that still dominate many buildings - IP phones, door and lift controllers, POS terminals, printers, building-management panels and older IP cameras that never needed more than 100 Mbps in the first place.
3.2 Gbps Non-Blocking Fabric With a 2 Mb Buffer
Switching capacity of 3.2 Gbps is exactly 16 ports at 100Mbps running full duplex simultaneously, so the backplane is non-blocking and cannot become the bottleneck. A 2.38 Mpps forwarding rate sustains that at minimum frame size, the 8K MAC address table is well beyond what 16 ports need, and the 2 Mb buffer memory smooths bursts rather than dropping frames. Store-and-forward transmission checks each frame before forwarding, so a failing cable or NIC does not spread corrupt traffic across the segment.
2.1W Draw, Fanless Operation and a Security Lock Point
Maximum power consumption is 2.1W, published also as 2.06W at 220V/50Hz, with heat dissipation of 7.03 BTU/h - negligible in any cabinet, and Green Technology trims that further on ports with no link. There is no fan, so the switch is silent and has no moving part to fail. A physical security lock point secures the chassis where it is installed in the open, which is a realistic concern for a compact unit sitting on a shelf rather than behind a locked cabinet door.
Unmanaged: No VLANs, No PoE, No Controller
There is no web interface, no VLAN or QoS configuration, no SNMP and no PoE, and this is not an Omada SDN device - it cannot be adopted into an Omada Controller. It is designed to be cabled once and left alone, with no firmware to maintain. Where a project needs segmentation, powered devices or central visibility, SourceIT can quote the equivalent Omada smart or managed switch at a comparable port count.
Ideal For
Singapore offices, schools, clinics and retail sites with shallow or half-width cabinets, and installs that want a mains-powered switch without a full 19-inch chassis. Supplied by SourceIT with local Singapore warranty, GST invoice and project pricing on request.

Frequently Asked Questions — TL-SF1016DS
How does the TL-SF1016DS differ from the TL-SF1016 and TL-SF1016D?
All three give 16 Fast Ethernet ports. The TL-SF1016DS is a 294 mm chassis with an internal mains supply that both racks and sits on a desk; the TL-SF1016 is the full 440 mm rack version; the TL-SF1016D is a 200 mm desktop unit on a 5VDC adapter with a 2K MAC table. Ask SourceIT which suits the space.
Can it be rack mounted?
Yes. A rackmount kit is supplied, along with rubber feet for desktop or shelf use.
Does it supply PoE?
No. The TL-SF1016DS has no PoE ports. Powered devices need a PoE injector or a PoE switch.
Is this model still available?
TP-Link lists the TL-SF1016DS as End of Life, so availability is limited. Ask SourceIT to confirm current stock and the closest current alternative before committing to a project date.
What warranty does SourceIT provide?
Local Singapore warranty, with a GST invoice on every unit. Ask us to confirm the current warranty duration for this model before purchase.
