TP-Link Omada 10GBase-BX WDM Bi-Directional SFP+ LC Module (B End, TX 1270 nm)
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
TP-Link Omada 10GBase-BX WDM Bi-Directional SFP+ LC Module (SM5110LSB-10) - 5 Years Local Warranty
The SM5110LSB-10 sits at the single-fibre end of the Omada optics range: a 10 Gbps SFP+ transceiver that uses WDM to send and receive on one strand instead of the usual pair. It is the B-end module of Omada's 10GBase-BX pairing, intended for 10 km single-mode runs where fibre count, not distance, is the constraint.
Halve your fibre count on every 10G run
Conventional 10G optics burn two strands per link, one for each direction. The SM5110LSB-10 uses wavelength-division multiplexing to put both directions on a single strand of 9/125 um single-mode fibre, transmitting at 1270 nm and receiving at 1330 nm through one simplex LC/UPC connector. On a campus or inter-building route where you are paying per strand, or working with a duct that is already full, that turns a link you cannot build into one you can. It also frees existing dark fibre for other services without trenching or re-splicing.
Full 10.3125 Gbps line rate out to 10 km
This is a full-rate 10 Gigabit module, not a throttled one: 10.3125 Gbps to IEEE 802.3ae and the 10GBase-BR specification, with a rated reach of 10 km over single-mode fibre. A DFB laser transmits between -8.2 and 0.5 dBm with an extinction ratio above 3.5 dB, and the PIN-TIA receiver is sensitive below -14.4 dBm with an overload point above 0.5 dBm. That gives roughly 14 dB of optical margin to absorb splice, patch-panel and connector losses across a real-world route.
See the link health before it fails
The module implements Digital Diagnostic Monitoring to SFF-8472, so the host switch can read live module temperature, supply voltage, laser bias current and both transmit and receive optical power. On a 10 km single-fibre span those readings are the difference between guessing and knowing: a receive power figure drifting toward the -14.4 dBm sensitivity threshold flags a dirty connector or a degrading splice while the link is still passing traffic, rather than after an outage. It also makes commissioning straightforward, since you can verify budget on day one.
Drops straight into Omada 10G SFP+ slots
The SM5110LSB-10 is built to the SFP+ multi-source agreement and complies with SFF-8431, SFF-8432 and SFF-8472, so it seats in a standard 10G SFP+ cage and is hot-swappable with the switch live. It runs from the 3.3 V rail at no more than 1 W, and measures 57 x 14 x 12 mm. TP-Link lists compatibility with Omada switches carrying 10G ports such as the SG3428X and SG3452X. Operating range is 0 to 70 degrees C, with CE, FCC and RoHS compliance.
Order it as a pair, not on its own
BiDi optics only work in matched pairs with opposed wavelengths, and this is the B end. Its 1270 nm transmit must meet the 1270 nm receive of an SM5110LSA-10 at the far end, and vice versa at 1330 nm. Two B-end modules facing each other will not link, because both would transmit on the same wavelength. For each single-fibre 10G span, buy one SM5110LSB-10 and one SM5110LSA-10, and label which end of the run takes which so future maintenance does not swap them.
Ideal For
Singapore businesses, schools, hotels and managed-service providers building on Omada, and IT teams that want a accessory they can adopt, monitor and update centrally rather than box by box. Supplied by SourceIT with local Singapore warranty, GST invoice and project pricing on request.

Frequently Asked Questions — SM5110LSB-10
Can I use two SM5110LSB-10 modules, one at each end?
No. This is a bi-directional (BiDi) module that carries both directions on a single fibre strand, so the two ends must transmit on opposite wavelengths. The SM5110LSB-10 has to be paired with a SM5110LSA-10 at the far end — two of the same part will never establish a link. Order them as a pair.
Does the SM5110LSB-10 need an Omada Controller?
No. The SM5110LSB-10 runs standalone through its own web interface. Adopting it into an Omada Software, Hardware or Cloud-Based Controller is what unlocks central configuration, monitoring, firmware management and cloud/app access across every Omada device on site — at no licence cost.
What warranty does SourceIT provide?
Five years local Singapore warranty. Every SM5110LSB-10 sold by SourceIT comes with a GST invoice.
Is stock held locally?
SourceIT holds fast-moving Omada lines in Singapore. Anything not in local stock is brought in on indent — ask us for the current lead time before committing to a project date.
Can SourceIT quote this for a project or tender?
Yes. Send the bill of materials and we will quote the whole Omada build — controller, gateway, switching, access points and optics — with local warranty and support.
