PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
TP-Link Omada 1000BASE-T RJ45 SFP Module (SM331T) - 5 Years Local Warranty
The SM331T converts a Gigabit SFP cage into a copper RJ45 port. When a switch has run out of copper ports but still has SFP slots free, or when the device you need to connect has no fibre interface at all, this module lets the spare cage do ordinary twisted-pair duty — a full 100 m of 1000BASE-T on Cat5e or better, powered entirely by the host port.
Turn a Spare SFP Cage Into a Gigabit Copper Port
On a 24- or 48-port switch it is common to exhaust the copper ports while two or four SFP cages sit empty, reserved for uplinks that were never fitted. The SM331T reclaims that capacity. It presents one 1000 Mbps RJ45 port at a 1.25 Gbps data rate, so a printer, camera, access point or server that only speaks copper can use a slot that would otherwise stay dark — without adding a second switch or a media converter to the rack.
Full 100 Metres on Standard Structured Cabling
TP-Link publishes a maximum cable length of 100 m on Cat5e or above, which is the normal structured-cabling horizontal limit. There is no derating and no special cable grade to specify. The module supports IEEE 802.3 and 802.3ab for Gigabit copper operation plus 802.3x flow control, and complies with INF 8074i and SFF-8472 for the SFP electrical and diagnostic interfaces. TP-Link states support for 10/100/1000BASE-T operation in host systems.
Low Power Draw in a Crowded Chassis
Copper SFP modules run warmer than optical ones, which matters when several sit shoulder to shoulder. TP-Link rates the SM331T at 0.5 W typical and 0.8 W maximum dissipation — modest figures that help keep a populated cage row within its thermal budget. Supply is the standard 3.3 V drawn from the host, and the module is rated 0–70 °C operating, -40–85 °C storage, with FCC and CE marks.
Hot-Swappable With a Metal Enclosure and TX Disable
The module uses the standard hot-pluggable SFP footprint, so it can be fitted or pulled without powering the switch down. A fully metallic enclosure keeps EMI low, which is worth having when the module sits alongside optical transceivers in the same row. A TX Disable function is supported for controlled shutdown of the transmit path. Dimensions are 67.4 x 13.4 x 13.8 mm.
Ideal For
Singapore businesses that have run out of copper ports but still have SFP cages free, and IT teams connecting Gigabit copper devices to Omada or JetStream switches without adding hardware to the rack. Supplied by SourceIT with local Singapore warranty, GST invoice and project pricing on request.

Compatibility & Software Support
The SM331T is a passive module driven by the host switch port. It has no firmware, no licence and no independent management.
| Form Factor | SFP footprint, hot-pluggable |
| Host Port Required | A Gigabit SFP cage on a switch, server NIC or appliance |
| Link Partner | A 10/100/1000BASE-T copper device over Cat5e or better, up to 100 m |
| Omada SDN Controller | Not applicable — the host Omada switch reports the port under the controller as usual |
| Cabling | Standard UTP structured cabling, Cat5e or above |
Copper SFP modules are more sensitive to host support than optical ones — not every switch accepts one in every cage. TP-Link does not publish a per-switch compatibility list for the SM331T, so tell us your switch model and we will confirm before you order.

Frequently Asked Questions — SM331T
Do I need two of them?
No. Unlike a fibre transceiver, a copper SFP module needs only one end — the device at the far end plugs in with an ordinary RJ45 patch lead.
How far will it run?
100 m on Cat5e cabling or better, the standard horizontal structured-cabling limit.
Will it work in any SFP cage?
It needs a Gigabit SFP slot, and copper SFP support varies more between switch platforms than optical support does. TP-Link does not publish a compatibility list for this module — send us your switch model and we will check first.
What warranty does SourceIT provide?
Five years local Singapore warranty, under TP-Link's replacement warranty tier covering SFP+/SFP modules and cables. Every SM331T sold by SourceIT comes with a GST invoice.
Can SourceIT quote this for a project or tender?
Yes. Send the bill of materials and we will quote the whole Omada build — controller, gateway, switching, access points and optics — with local warranty and support.
