PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

TP-Link 10/100 Mbps WDM Media Converter (TL-FC111A-20) - 5 Years Local Warranty

The TL-FC111A-20 extends a 10/100 Mbps copper link across up to 20 km of single-mode fibre on a single strand. It is the "A" half of a WDM pair, transmitting at 1550 nm and receiving at 1310 nm, and TP-Link designs it to work against the TL-FC111B-20 at the far end.

Twenty Kilometres on One Strand of Fibre

Wavelength Division Multiplexing carries both directions of a link down one fibre instead of a pair, by transmitting and receiving on different wavelengths. The TL-FC111A-20 sends at 1550 nm and receives at 1310 nm over 9/125 µm single-mode fibre terminated in SC/UPC, with a published reach of 20 km (12.4 miles). Where a 100 Mbps link has to cross a campus, an estate or a stretch of public road, that turns a distance problem into two small boxes and one strand.

Right-Sized for Cameras, Controllers and Remote Panels

Plenty of edge devices — IP cameras, access-control panels, building-management controllers, industrial gateways — will never need more than 100 Mbps. Specifying Gigabit converters for those links adds cost without adding capability. The TL-FC111A-20 provides exactly what the device needs, with a 10/100 Mbps Auto MDI/MDIX RJ45 port and auto-negotiating half or full duplex, so it drops into an existing switch port without configuration.

Flow Control in Both Duplex Modes

TP-Link publishes IEEE 802.3x full-duplex flow control and backpressure for half duplex on this model. Where a converter sits between devices with different buffer capacity — a switch at one end, an older device at the other — flow control is what keeps a burst from being silently dropped. Combined with auto-negotiation on the copper side, it means the converter adapts to what is plugged into it rather than requiring the installer to match settings by hand.

Order the Matching Half

This is the A unit: 1550 nm transmit, 1310 nm receive. The far end must be the mirror image, and TP-Link states that the TL-FC111A-20 works with the TL-FC111B-20 as a pair. Both ends must also share the same distance rating. If you are extending an installation rather than building a new one, send us the model already on site and we will confirm the correct partner before you order.

Ideal For

Singapore integrators running 100 Mbps links to cameras, gates, car parks and remote plant rooms over single-mode fibre, businesses connecting a satellite building to the main site, and IT teams conserving strands on leased or in-house dark fibre. Supplied by SourceIT with local Singapore warranty, GST invoice and project pricing on request.

Specifications are reproduced from TP-Link's published TL-FC111A-20 page. TP-Link prints the dimensions twice on that page, as 95 x 73 x 27 mm and as 94.5 x 73 x 27 mm; the first is shown above and the discrepancy is noted rather than resolved. No maximum power consumption, EAN or carton pack size is published for this model, so none is stated here.

Frequently Asked Questions — TL-FC111A-20

Which unit goes at the other end?

One that transmits at 1310 nm and receives at 1550 nm. TP-Link states the TL-FC111A-20 works with the TL-FC111B-20 as a pair. Two A units will not link to each other.

Is 100 Mbps enough for my link?

For cameras, access-control panels, building controllers and most remote single devices, yes. If the far end aggregates several devices or carries video recording traffic, the Gigabit TL-FC311 pair is the better fit — tell us what sits behind the link and we will advise.

Can it be managed from the Omada Controller?

No, and it cannot be adopted into one. The converter is unmanaged and transparent, and does not appear in Omada SDN.

What warranty does SourceIT provide?

Five years local Singapore warranty, under TP-Link's replacement warranty policy for media converters. Every TL-FC111A-20 sold by SourceIT comes with a GST invoice.

Is stock held locally?

Availability on this model is limited. Ask us to confirm current stock and lead time before you commit to a project date, and we can quote an equivalent current model if the timing does not work.
