PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
TP-Link 10/100Mbps WDM Media Converter (MC112CS) - 5 Years Local Warranty
The MC112CS converts a copper 10/100 Mbps link to single-mode fibre over one strand, reaching up to 20 km. It is a WDM unit, transmitting at 1310 nm and receiving at 1550 nm, so it must be deployed against a converter with the opposite wavelength pair. Link Fault Pass-Through and Far End Fault make it the more diagnosable choice in this class.
One Fibre Strand Instead of Two, Up to 20 km
Conventional fibre links consume a pair of strands — one for each direction. The MC112CS uses Wavelength Division Multiplexing to carry both directions down a single strand, sending on 1310 nm and receiving on 1550 nm. On a leased dark-fibre run between buildings, or in a riser where strand count is fixed and expensive, that halves the fibre required for the same link. TP-Link publishes a reach of up to 20 km over 9/125 µm single-mode fibre, which covers most inter-building and campus spans in Singapore.
Link Fault Pass-Through and Far End Fault Shorten Fault-Finding
A plain media converter hides failures: if the fibre breaks, the copper side of each converter can stay up, and the switches on both ends believe the link is healthy while traffic disappears. The MC112CS implements Link Fault Pass-Through and Far End Fault, so a failure on one segment is signalled through to the other. The switch port drops, spanning tree or a routing protocol reconverges, and a monitoring system raises the alarm — instead of an engineer being dispatched to find a silent link.
Plug-In Operation With No Configuration
There is nothing to configure. The RJ45 port is Auto MDI/MDIX, so straight or crossover patch leads both work, and the unit supports both half- and full-duplex transfer on the fibre port with IEEE 802.3x full-duplex flow control and backpressure for half duplex. Four LEDs — PWR, FDX/Col, Link/Act and SPD — give the state of the unit at a glance without a console cable. Maximum draw is 2.41 W from the supplied external adapter.
Deploy on a Desk, a Shelf or in a Rack Chassis
At 94.5 x 73.0 x 27.0 mm the MC112CS sits behind a patch panel, on a shelf beside a camera aggregation switch or inside a cabinet. Where several converters terminate in the same comms room, TP-Link's rackmount media converter chassis consolidates them into a single 19-inch 2U enclosure with shared power; ask SourceIT to confirm chassis compatibility for the hardware revision you are buying before you order the two together.
Ideal For
Singapore businesses extending a 10/100 Mbps link between buildings over leased or in-house single-mode fibre, CCTV and building-services integrators terminating long copper-to-fibre runs, and IT teams who need a fibre link that reports its own failures. Supplied by SourceIT with local Singapore warranty, GST invoice and project pricing on request.

Specifications are reproduced from TP-Link's published MC112CS page. TP-Link lists the copper port as "1 100M RJ45 port" while also publishing 10BASE-T media support and naming the product a 10/100Mbps converter; both are shown as published rather than harmonised. No adapter output rating, EAN or carton pack size is published for this model.
Compatibility & Software Support
The MC112CS is an unmanaged media converter. It is a transparent copper-to-fibre bridge with no controller, no web interface and no configuration.
| Omada SDN Controller | Not supported — this model cannot be adopted into an Omada Software, Hardware or Cloud-Based Controller. It carries traffic between Omada devices but does not appear in the controller as a managed device |
| Omada App | Not supported |
| Management | None — unmanaged, plug and play. Status is read from the front-panel LEDs |
| Required Partner Unit | A WDM converter that transmits at 1550 nm and receives at 1310 nm, to match this unit's 1310 nm Tx / 1550 nm Rx. Ask SourceIT to confirm the correct partner model before ordering |
| Fibre Type | 9/125 micron single-mode fibre, SC/UPC connector, up to 20 km |
| Switch Compatibility | Any 10/100 Mbps Ethernet switch or router port, including Omada and JetStream switches |

Frequently Asked Questions — MC112CS
Do I need two of these for one link?
You need a converter at each end, but not two MC112CS. This unit transmits at 1310 nm and receives at 1550 nm; the far end must do the opposite. Send us your link details and we will quote the matching pair.
Can it be managed or monitored from the Omada Controller?
No. The MC112CS is unmanaged and does not appear in Omada SDN. What it does offer is Link Fault Pass-Through and Far End Fault, so a fibre failure is passed through to the switch ports at both ends and your existing switch monitoring sees the link go down.
Will it work with multi-mode fibre?
No. TP-Link publishes single-mode 9/125 micron fibre only for this model. For multi-mode runs ask us about the multi-mode converters in the same range.
What warranty does SourceIT provide?
Five years local Singapore warranty, under TP-Link's replacement warranty policy for media converters. Every MC112CS sold by SourceIT comes with a GST invoice.
Can SourceIT quote this for a project or tender?
Yes. Send the bill of materials and we will quote the whole build — converters, fibre patch leads, switching and the rackmount chassis — with local warranty and support.
