PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
TP-Link 1 Meter 10G SFP+ Direct Attach Cable (TL-SM5220-1M) - 5 Years Local Warranty
The TL-SM5220-1M is a 1 metre passive twin-axial cable assembly with a 10G SFP+ connector moulded on each end. It drives a full 10 Gigabit Ethernet link over silver plated copper with no transceivers, no fibre and no configuration — the short-run answer for stacking switches or joining a switch to a server in the same cabinet.
One Metre for Equipment in the Same Cabinet
A metre is the distance between rack units, not between racks. It suits a switch uplinking to an aggregation switch a few U above it, or a 10G server NIC patched to the top-of-rack switch immediately over it. The short length keeps the cable out of the airflow path and leaves no coil of slack to manage. Where the run crosses into the next cabinet, the 3 metre SM5220-3M is the matching part.
No Optics, No Patch Lead, No Alignment
The cable replaces two SFP+ transceivers and the fibre between them with one factory-terminated assembly. Nothing has to be cleaned, aligned or optically diagnosed, and a rack build needs one part number instead of three. Being wholly passive, it draws no power and adds no heat to the switch — useful when every SFP+ slot on an aggregation switch is populated.
Silver Plated Copper Conductors at a Full 10 Gbps
TP-Link publishes the data rate as 10 Gbps over silver plated copper conductors. Silver plating cuts conductor loss at the frequencies a 10G signal occupies, which is what keeps a passive copper assembly viable at this speed over short distances. The plug measures 57.5 × 13.55 × 8.55 mm — the ordinary SFP+ footprint — and the overall assembly is 1,000 mm long.
Rated for the Working Temperature of a Live Rack
Operating temperature is 0–70 °C at 10–90% non-condensing humidity, with storage rated from -40 to 80 °C at 5–90% humidity. Those are hot-aisle figures with headroom over a properly cooled Singapore comms room. With no active components in the assembly, service life comes down to handling and respecting the bend radius rather than to component ageing.
Ideal For
Singapore data centres, server rooms and Omada deployments joining switches, servers or storage inside a rack or across adjacent racks at 10 Gigabit, where a fibre pair and two optics would be more cost and more parts than the distance warrants. Supplied by SourceIT with local Singapore warranty, GST invoice and project pricing on request.

Compatibility & Software Support
A direct attach cable is a passive assembly: two SFP+ plugs permanently terminated on a twin-axial copper cable. It carries no firmware, needs no licence, does not appear in an Omada Controller as a device and cannot be configured — the switches at each end own their ports and report the link. Adopting those switches into an Omada Software, Hardware or Cloud-Based Controller is what puts the link under central management.
| Slot Type | SFP+ at both ends |
| Data Rate | 10 Gbps |
| Maximum Distance | 1 m — fixed by the cable, which cannot be extended or re-terminated |
| Transceivers Needed | None — the cable replaces a pair of SFP+ optics and the patch lead between them |
| Omada Controller | Not adopted directly; managed through the switches it connects |
TP-Link does not publish a per-switch compatibility list for this cable. Send us the two switch models you intend to join and we will confirm before you order rather than infer it from a sibling product.

Frequently Asked Questions — TL-SM5220-1M
How long is the TL-SM5220-1M?
One metre. TP-Link publishes the overall length as 1,000 mm (39.37 in), with a plug footprint of 57.5 × 13.55 × 8.55 mm. For runs into an adjacent rack, the SM5220-3M is the 3 metre part.
Do I need SFP+ transceivers as well?
No. The plugs at each end of the cable are the transceiver interface. A direct attach cable replaces two optics and the fibre patch lead between them, which is where most of its cost saving comes from.
Can the cable be shortened or extended?
No. It is a passive twin-ax assembly terminated at the factory, so the published length is the only length. Measure the cable path, including slack and cable management, before choosing between the 1 m and 3 m parts.
Will it work in my switch?
It needs an SFP+ slot at each end. TP-Link publishes no per-switch compatibility list, so send us both switch models and we will confirm before you order.
What warranty does SourceIT provide?
Five years local Singapore warranty, under Omada's replacement warranty tier for accessories. Every cable sold by SourceIT comes with a GST invoice.
Can SourceIT quote this for a project?
Yes. Send the bill of materials and we will quote the whole Omada build — switching, optics, direct attach cabling, gateways and access points — with local warranty and support.
