The InSight S225 is TP-Link's VIGI 2MP full-colour dome camera in a metal housing rated IP67 waterproof and IK10 vandal-proof. This listing is the 2.8 mm lens version, which gives the widest view in the S225 range at 98.8 degrees horizontal, making it the natural choice for covering a whole room, lobby or corridor junction from a single ceiling or wall position. One PoE cable carries power and 1080p video, and two integrated IR/white LEDs reach 30 m for night footage in infrared or full colour.

Wide 2.8 mm View With Published DORI Distances

The fixed 2.8 mm F2.0 lens gives a 98.8 degree horizontal, 53.5 degree vertical and 117 degree diagonal field of view. TP-Link publishes DORI distances for this lens of detect 47 m, observe 19 m, recognise 9 m and identify 5 m, so the 2.8 mm version suits broad situational coverage of a space; where faces or plates must be identified further away, the 4 mm version narrows the view to 75.2 degrees and extends identification to 6 m. Recording is 1920x1080 at up to 25 fps (50 Hz) or 30 fps (60 Hz) on a 1/3 inch progressive scan CMOS sensor.

LightPro Night Vision: IR by Default, Colour When It Matters

TP-Link's LightPro Night Vision switches between IR and full-colour night vision by detecting people or vehicles: the camera runs on discreet IR most of the time and turns the white light on when a person or vehicle appears, capturing colour detail at the moment it counts while reducing light pollution and energy use. Six night-vision modes are available — Auto Infrared, Auto Color, Human & Vehicle Triggered Full-Color, Infrared Always On, White LED Always On and Off. Minimum illumination is 0.005 lux, or 0 lux with the IR or white light active.

Human and Vehicle Classification for Fewer False Alerts

Motion detection is enhanced with human and vehicle classification, so notifications are raised for people and vehicles rather than for moving foliage, shadows or animals. Smart events cover intrusion, line-crossing, region entering, region exiting, people detection and vehicle detection, with camera tampering and illegal-login exception as basic events. Alarm linkage options are FTP upload, push notification, alarm server and email.

H.265+ to Cut Bandwidth and Storage

The main stream supports H.265+, H.265, H.264+ and H.264 at 256 Kbps to 4 Mbps, with an H.265/H.264 sub-stream at 64 to 512 Kbps. TP-Link states H.265+ saves 57.5% and 15% more storage space than H.264 and H.265 respectively, which directly extends retention on a VIGI NVR's drives. Image processing includes BLC, 3D DNR, HLC, Smart IR and DWDR, with up to four privacy masks and one ROI region.

Vandal-Resistant Metal Dome, PoE Powered

The metal housing is rated IP67 waterproof and IK10 vandal-proof and specified for -30 to 60 degrees C, suited to covered walkways, lift lobbies, retail floors and other reachable mounting points. Power is 802.3af/at PoE (class 0, max 6.7 W) through a single 10/100 Mbps port, or 12 V DC (max 6.3 W). A built-in microphone records audio within a 4.6 m radius. There is no on-board memory card slot, so recording is to a VIGI NVR, VIGI VMS or VIGI Cloud VMS.
