PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
TP-Link Omada 8-Port 2.5G Multi-Gigabit Unmanaged Desktop Switch (DS108G-M2) - 5 Years Local Warranty
The DS108G-M2 gives eight 2.5 Gigabit ports in a palm-sized fanless case. For most offices 2.5G is the right step up from Gigabit: it is what modern Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 7 access points, NAS units and laptop docks actually use, and it runs over the Cat 5e already in the walls. Nothing to configure, nothing to hear, 8.87 W at full load.
Eight 2.5G Ports That Work Over Existing Cat 5e
Every port auto-negotiates 10 Mbps, 100 Mbps, 1 Gbps or 2.5 Gbps with auto-MDI/MDIX. The practical appeal of 2.5GBASE-T is that it reaches 2.5 Gbps over ordinary Cat 5e to 100 metres, so a building can go multi-gigabit at the access layer without recabling. A Wi-Fi 7 access point whose radios exceed a Gigabit uplink stops being throttled by the wire, and a NAS shared across a small team gets two and a half times the headroom.
40 Gbps Capacity With IGMP Snooping Built In
Switching capacity is 40 Gbps at a 29.8 Mpps forwarding rate — line rate on all eight ports at once — with a 4 K MAC address table, 12 KB jumbo frame support and store-and-forward switching. Unusually for an unmanaged switch, the DS108G-M2 also performs IGMP snooping, so multicast streams are forwarded only to ports that asked for them instead of flooding every port. On a network carrying IPTV, digital signage or AV-over-IP that alone can be the difference between a usable network and a saturated one.
Fanless, Palm-Sized, 8.87 W
The case measures 158 x 101 x 25.4 mm — small enough to sit behind a monitor or on a shelf — and there is no fan. Maximum consumption is 8.87 W from an external 12 VDC / 1.0 A adapter, with 30.158 BTU/h of heat dissipation, so it can be mounted in an enclosed cabinet or a meeting-room credenza without a ventilation calculation.
Flow Control and Priority Marking, No Setup
802.3x flow control and 802.1p/DSCP QoS are applied automatically. Priority markings set by upstream equipment — an IP phone, a conferencing appliance, a managed switch further up — are honoured through the DS108G-M2, so classification done once at the edge is not lost when traffic crosses this switch.
Ideal For
Singapore offices, meeting rooms, retail sites and classrooms upgrading the access layer to 2.5G over existing cabling, and anyone feeding multi-gigabit access points or a shared NAS without adding a managed switch to administer. Supplied by SourceIT with local Singapore warranty, GST invoice and project pricing on request.
TP-Link lists the DS108G-M2 as End of Sale. SourceIT still supplies it while stock lasts — ask us to confirm current availability and the recommended replacement before committing to a project date.

Compatibility & Software Support
The DS108G-M2 is an unmanaged switch. It has no web interface, no CLI and no configuration of any kind — it forwards traffic as soon as it is powered on. TP-Link states plainly in its own documentation that Omada Unmanaged Switches do not support Omada SDN central management.
| Omada SDN Controller | Not supported — the DS108G-M2 cannot be adopted into an Omada Software, Hardware or Cloud-Based Controller |
| Omada App | Not supported |
| Omada Cloud Access | Not supported |
| Web / CLI Management | None — the switch is unmanaged by design |
| Works Alongside Omada | Yes — it will carry traffic for Omada access points, gateways and cameras perfectly well; those devices remain managed by the controller themselves, and the switch simply does not appear in it |
| Cabling | 2.5GBASE-T (802.3bz) runs over Cat 5e, so existing cabling can usually be reused |
| PoE | Not supplied — powered devices need their own injector or a PoE switch |

Frequently Asked Questions — DS108G-M2
Will 2.5G work over my existing cabling?
2.5GBASE-T is defined by IEEE 802.3bz to run over Cat 5e, which is what makes it attractive for a building already cabled for Gigabit. Cat 6 and Cat 6a work too.
Can it be managed from an Omada Controller?
No. It is an unmanaged switch and TP-Link states that Omada Unmanaged Switches do not support Omada SDN central management. Your Omada access points and gateways remain managed themselves.
Does it supply PoE?
No. The DS108G-M2 has no PoE at all — access points and cameras need their own injector or a PoE switch.
What warranty does SourceIT provide?
Five years local Singapore warranty. Every DS108G-M2 sold by SourceIT comes with a GST invoice.
Is stock held locally?
TP-Link has marked the DS108G-M2 End of Sale, so availability is limited. Ask SourceIT to confirm current stock and the recommended replacement before committing to a project date.
