TP-Link UB500 Bluetooth 5.0 Nano USB Adapter
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
TP-Link Bluetooth 5.0 Nano USB Adapter (UB500) - 3 Years Local Warranty
The UB500 adds Bluetooth 5.0 to any Windows desktop or laptop that does not have it, in a dongle small enough to leave in the port permanently. At 14.8 x 6.8 x 18.9 mm it sits almost flush, so a laptop can go back in the bag without unplugging it. For an office standardising on wireless headsets, mice and keyboards, it is the cheapest way to bring older desktops into line.
Bluetooth 5.0 on a Nano Dongle
TP-Link states Bluetooth 5.0 as the UB500's standard. Relative to Bluetooth 4, the 5.0 core specification introduced roughly twice the speed and four times the broadcast coverage - TP-Link's own footnote makes that comparison, and also notes that its speed, distance and capacity figures come from laboratory testing and will vary in real use. In a typical office the practical benefit is a more stable headset link across a room rather than a dramatic range increase.
Small Enough to Leave Plugged In
The whole adapter is 14.8 x 6.8 x 18.9 mm. That matters more than it sounds: a dongle that protrudes gets knocked, and a knocked dongle bends the USB port. The nano form factor means the UB500 can live in a laptop's side port indefinitely, or in the back of a desktop where nothing will touch it, which is exactly what you want when it is supporting a wireless keyboard and mouse.
One Adapter, Several Classes of Device
Once paired, the host handles Bluetooth headsets, speakers, keyboards, mice, presenters, game controllers and file transfer in the normal way. For a Singapore office running hybrid meetings, the common case is a Bluetooth headset on a desktop PC that has no radio of its own - the UB500 solves that for less than the cost of a cable.
Windows Support, With a Driver Only for Windows 7
TP-Link publishes support for Windows 10, 8.1 and 7 for the UB500. Windows 7 requires the driver to be installed from TP-Link's download page; the newer versions do not. Where the fleet is on Windows 11, check current driver availability on TP-Link's UB500 download page or ask SourceIT to confirm before ordering in volume - TP-Link does not list Windows 11 in this model's published system requirements.
Ideal For
Singapore offices, home setups and computer labs adding Bluetooth to desktops and older laptops - wireless headsets for hybrid meetings, keyboards and mice at hot desks, and presenters in meeting rooms. Supplied by SourceIT with local Singapore warranty, GST invoice and volume pricing on request.

Frequently Asked Questions — UB500
How far does it reach?
TP-Link publishes no range figure in the UB500's specification table, so none is quoted here. Bluetooth 5.0 improves on Bluetooth 4 in coverage, but real range depends on walls, interference and the device at the other end.
Does it work on Windows 11?
TP-Link's published system requirements for the UB500 list Windows 10, 8.1 and 7 and do not mention Windows 11. Check the download page for current driver availability, or ask SourceIT to confirm before a volume order.
Does it need a driver?
Windows 7 does. TP-Link publishes the driver on the UB500 download page. Windows 10 and 8.1 are listed without a driver requirement.
What is the difference between the UB500 and the UB400?
The UB500 is Bluetooth 5.0; the UB400 is Bluetooth 4.0 on a USB 1.1 interface. Both are the same physical size. Choose the UB500 unless there is a specific reason not to.
What warranty does SourceIT provide?
Three years local Singapore warranty. Every UB500 sold by SourceIT comes with a GST invoice and local warranty support.
