PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

TP-Link 48-Port Gigabit Rackmount Switch (TL-SG1048) - 5 Years Local Warranty

The TL-SG1048 is a forty-eight-port Gigabit unmanaged switch in a 19-inch 1U chassis — the straightforward way to terminate a whole floor of copper without introducing anything to configure. A 96 Gbps non-blocking fabric, 16K MAC address table and 12 Mb buffer give it the capacity to sit behind a managed core as a pure access-layer switch.

Forty-Eight Gigabit Ports in a Single Rack Unit

All forty-eight ports auto-negotiate 10, 100 or 1000 Mbps with Auto MDI/MDIX. Consolidating a floor onto one 1U switch rather than several stacked desktop units removes patching complexity, cuts the number of power supplies to maintain, and keeps the cabinet tidy. Because it is unmanaged, commissioning is a matter of racking it, patching it and powering it — there is no console, no IP address to assign and no firmware policy to own.

96 Gbps Non-Blocking Fabric With a 16K MAC Table

The 96 Gbps switching capacity is exactly what forty-eight Gigabit ports at full duplex demand, so the fabric never oversubscribes regardless of traffic pattern. A 71.4 Mpps forwarding rate sustains line rate at minimum frame size, and the 16K MAC address table is sized for a full floor of endpoints plus everything behind daisy-chained desk switches and access points. A 12 Mb packet buffer absorbs the microbursts that a dense access layer produces.

12 KB Jumbo Frames and Store-and-Forward Switching

Jumbo frame support up to 12 KB improves efficiency on NAS, backup and virtualisation traffic where large payloads dominate. Store-and-forward switching validates each frame before it is passed on, discarding corrupt frames rather than propagating them — the appropriate behaviour for an access layer built from mixed-vintage cabling and endpoints.

1U Chassis, 32.3 W, Kit Included

At 440 x 220 x 44 mm the switch occupies one rack unit, and the mounting bracket is supplied along with rubber feet and a power cord. Maximum consumption of 32.3 W and 110.2 BTU/h heat dissipation is low for a forty-eight-port switch, which keeps the cabinet's thermal and UPS budget manageable when several are installed.

Ideal For

Singapore offices, schools and light-industrial sites terminating a floor of wired ports behind an existing managed core, with no PoE or per-port configuration required. Supplied by SourceIT with local Singapore warranty, GST invoice and project pricing on request.

Frequently Asked Questions — TL-SG1048

Does it supply PoE?

No. The TL-SG1048 has no PoE on any port. For a 48-port switch that powers cameras and access points, ask us for the JetStream PoE+ equivalent.

Can I create VLANs on it?

No. It is unmanaged, so there are no VLANs, no port configuration and no monitoring. It is designed to sit behind a managed core that handles segmentation.

Is it noisy in a shared cabinet?

TP-Link does not publish a fan quantity or noise figure for this model, so we will not claim one. Maximum draw is 32.3 W, which is modest for a 48-port switch. Ask us if acoustics are critical for the installation.

What warranty does SourceIT provide?

Five years local Singapore warranty, in line with TP-Link's replacement warranty policy for unmanaged Gigabit switches. Every unit sold by SourceIT comes with a GST invoice.

Can SourceIT quote this for a project or tender?

Yes. Send the bill of materials and we will quote the whole build — switching, access points, cameras and optics — with local warranty and support.
