PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
TP-Link 18-Port Gigabit Rackmount Switch with 16 PoE+ (TL-SG1218MP) - 5 Years Local Warranty
The TL-SG1218MP is a plug-and-play 1U rackmount PoE+ switch built for sites that need a lot of powered ports and no configuration at all. Sixteen of its eighteen Gigabit ports deliver 802.3at PoE+ from a 250 W budget, two further Gigabit ports and two combo SFP slots handle uplink, and the whole unit runs on mains power with a physical security lock. It is an unmanaged switch - there is no web interface and no controller adoption.
250 W Across Sixteen PoE+ Ports
Ports 1 to 16 are 802.3af and 802.3at compliant, sharing a 250 W system budget. That is enough headroom to run a realistic mix on one switch: a full 802.3at load of 30 W would consume the budget across eight ports, while typical 802.3af cameras and door controllers at 12 to 15 W let you populate all sixteen and still keep reserve. Because power and data share the same Cat5e or Cat6 run, remote devices need no local socket, which is what makes this switch useful for ceiling-mounted access points, corridor cameras and access-control readers.
Two Non-PoE Ports and Two Combo SFP Slots for Uplink
Ports 17 and 18 are Gigabit RJ45 without PoE, and the two combo Gigabit SFP slots accept fibre optics where copper distance runs out. The combo design means each SFP slot shares its position with a copper port, so you choose per link rather than paying for capacity you do not use. In practice this gives a clean separation between the powered access layer on ports 1 to 16 and the path back to the router, firewall or core switch.
36 Gbps Fabric, 8K MAC Table and 10 KB Jumbo Frames
The 36 Gbps switching capacity covers all eighteen ports running full duplex simultaneously, so the fabric itself does not oversubscribe. An 8K MAC address table and 4.1 Mbit packet buffer suit a busy access layer with many endpoints behind APs, and 10 KB jumbo frame support helps NVR and backup traffic move efficiently. Store-and-forward switching with 802.3x flow control and 802.1p/DHCP QoS keeps latency-sensitive traffic moving without any setup.
1U Rack Chassis, Two Fans and a Security Lock
At 440 x 180 x 44 mm the TL-SG1218MP occupies a single rack unit and ships with a rackmount kit and rubber feet, so it works in a comms cabinet or on a shelf. Two fans handle the thermal load of a fully loaded PoE budget, and the chassis is rated for 0 to 50 degrees Celsius - wider than the 0 to 40 degrees of the desktop models in this family, which matters in an unventilated riser cupboard. A physical security lock slot deters casual removal in shared or public-facing spaces.
Ideal For
Singapore offices, retail sites, schools and small campuses rolling out IP cameras, access points or VoIP phones where a rack is available and no per-port configuration is wanted. Supplied by SourceIT with local Singapore warranty, GST invoice and project pricing on request.

TP-Link's published specification lists the packet forwarding rate for this model in Mbps rather than Mpps. Rather than reproduce a unit that does not match the figure, the row is omitted here — ask SourceIT and we will confirm it against the TP-Link datasheet. No EAN or carton pack size is published for this model.
Compatibility & Software Support
The TL-SG1218MP is an unmanaged switch. It has no web interface, no command line and no configuration of any kind — it forwards traffic as soon as it is powered and cabled.
| Omada SDN Controller | Not supported — this model cannot be adopted into an Omada Software, Hardware or Cloud-Based Controller |
| Omada App / Cloud Access | Not supported |
| Web Management | None — unmanaged, plug and play |
| Powering Omada Devices | Supported — the 16 PoE+ ports will power Omada access points, cameras and other 802.3af/at devices |
| If You Need Central Management | Choose an Omada JetStream smart or L2+ managed switch instead — ask SourceIT for the equivalent model |

Frequently Asked Questions — TL-SG1218MP
Can the TL-SG1218MP be managed from an Omada Controller?
No. This is an unmanaged switch with no management interface, so it cannot be adopted into an Omada Software, Hardware or Cloud-Based Controller. It will happily power and connect Omada access points — it simply will not appear in the controller itself. If you need the switch in your controller view, ask us about the JetStream smart and managed ranges.
How many devices will the 250 W budget actually run?
It depends on the draw of each device. Sixteen 802.3af devices at around 13 W each fit comfortably; a mix that includes 802.3at devices at up to 30 W will reach the 250 W ceiling sooner. Send us your device list and we will work out the load.
Does it fit a standard rack?
Yes. It is a 19-inch 1U chassis and the rackmount kit and rubber feet are both included, so it can be racked or shelf-mounted.
What warranty does SourceIT provide?
Five years local Singapore warranty, in line with TP-Link's replacement warranty policy for unmanaged PoE switches. Every unit sold by SourceIT comes with a GST invoice.
Can SourceIT quote this for a project or tender?
Yes. Send the bill of materials and we will quote the whole build — switching, access points, cameras and optics — with local warranty and support.
