TP-Link TL-WN722N 150Mbps High Gain Wireless USB Adapter
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
TP-Link 150Mbps High Gain Wireless USB Adapter (TL-WN722N) - 3 Years Local Warranty
The TL-WN722N is the high-gain member of TP-Link's N150 USB adapter family. Where its siblings use internal or on-board antennas, this one carries a detachable 4 dBi omni-directional antenna on an RP-SMA connector — so reception can be improved by aiming it, or by swapping in a larger antenna where the link is marginal.
A Detachable 4 dBi Antenna on an RP-SMA Connector
This is the reason to choose the TL-WN722N over a nano adapter. TP-Link publishes a detachable omni-directional antenna with 4 dBi of gain on a standard RP-SMA connector. Gain can be pointed: standing the antenna vertical for a router on the same floor, or laying it over towards one on another, often changes a marginal connection into a usable one. Because the connector is standard, a higher-gain or directional antenna can be fitted where the distance demands it.
N150 Wi-Fi Over USB 2.0
Published standards are IEEE 802.11n, 802.11g and 802.11b on 2.400-2.4835 GHz, at up to 150 Mbps on 11n, 54 Mbps on 11g and 11 Mbps on 11b, through a USB 2.0 interface. The body measures 93.5 x 26 x 11 mm before the antenna. Transmission power is published at under 20 dBm, and published wireless modes are Ad-Hoc and Infrastructure.
WPS Button and WPA2 Encryption
A WPS button on the adapter joins a WPS-capable router with a single press rather than a typed passphrase. Published wireless security covers 64/128-bit WEP and WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK, which lets the adapter join a normally-protected home or small-office network at the same encryption level as everything else on it.
USB Extension Cable Included
TP-Link supplies a USB extension cable with this model. Combined with the external antenna, it is what makes the TL-WN722N useful at the awkward end of a building: the adapter can be raised onto a shelf, clear of a metal desktop case and any obstruction, while the computer stays where it is. For a workshop, a store room or a back office, that combination usually beats a smaller adapter outright.
Check the Operating System Before You Order
TP-Link's published system requirements for this model are Windows 8.1, 8, 7, Vista and XP (32/64-bit) and Windows 2000. Windows 10, Windows 11, macOS and Linux are not on the published list for this model. Driver availability changes over time — check TP-Link's download page for your hardware version, linked below, or ask us before ordering for a modern machine.
Ideal For
Desktops and laptops at the far edge of Wi-Fi coverage in Singapore homes, workshops, store rooms and small offices, and anyone who may later want to fit a larger antenna to reach a distant access point. Supplied by SourceIT with local Singapore warranty and a GST invoice.
