Entry-Level Enterprise-Class Layer 2 Access Switch
The RUCKUS ICX 8100-24-X is a 1U access switch from the RUCKUS ICX 8100 family, which RUCKUS positions as an entry-level enterprise-class L2 access switch. It has 24 x 10/100/1000 Mbps RJ-45 ports and 4 x 1/10 GbE SFP+ uplink ports.
10 GbE Uplinks on the -X Model
The -X suffix is the 10 GbE version: its 4 uplink ports are 1/10 GbE SFP+, where the standard ICX8100-24 has 1 GbE SFP uplinks. Choose the -X model when the switch uplinks to a 10G core or aggregation switch.
Silent, Fanless Operation
RUCKUS lists the ICX 8100-24 as fanless, making it a fit for offices, classrooms and other spaces where fan noise matters. It has no PoE — choose the ICX 8100-24P for powered devices.
Cloud, On-Premises or Controller-Less Management
RUCKUS lists RUCKUS One (cloud, AI-driven management and assurance), SmartZone (on premises) and RUCKUS Unleashed (controller-less), plus the CLI and a web-based standalone interface.
Supplied in Singapore with Local Warranty
RUCKUS covers the ICX 8100 with a limited lifetime warranty and 90 days of free RUCKUS TAC support; continued TAC access needs a RUCKUS support contract. RUCKUS documents are not consistent on ICX 8100 stacking (the product pages list stacking as not supported, while the data sheet table shows up to 4 units). Please confirm with us before designing a stack.

No. It is a non-PoE, fanless switch. The ICX 8100-24P adds PoE+ with a 370 W budget.
What is the difference between ICX8100-24-X and the standard model?
The uplinks: this -X model has 1/10 GbE SFP+ uplinks; the standard ICX8100-24 has 1 GbE SFP uplinks.
Does it do Layer 3 routing?
Static routing only. The ICX 8100 is a Layer 2 access switch; for OSPF, VRRP and other dynamic routing, see the ICX 8200 with its premium licence.
Can I manage it from the cloud?
Yes — RUCKUS One. It can also be managed by SmartZone, RUCKUS Unleashed, the CLI or the web interface.
